وقع أكثر من 560 موظفًا في قوقل، رسالة مفتوحة موجّهة إلى الرئيس التنفيذي ساندار بيتشاي، يطالبونه فيها برفض أي تعاون يتيح للحكومة الأمريكية استخدام تقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي التابعة للشركة في عمليات عسكرية سرّية، وفقًا لما ذكرته صحيفة فايننشال تايمز البريطانية.

وتؤكد الرسالة، التي أُرسلت الإثنين، أن الموظفين يريدون «تسخير الذكاء الاصطناعي لخدمة البشرية، لا استخدامه بطرق غير إنسانية أو شديدة الضرر»، مشيرين إلى مخاطر تشمل الأسلحة الذاتية التشغيل وأنظمة المراقبة الجماعية، واستخدامات أخرى قد تتجاوز هذه المجالات.

وأضاف الموظفون، في الرسالة، أن «الطريقة الوحيدة لضمان عدم ارتباط قوقل بهذه الأضرار هي رفض أي أعمال سرّية»، محذرين من أن المضي في هذا المسار قد يؤدي إلى استخدام التقنيات دون علم الموظفين أو قدرتهم على إيقافها.

More than 560 Google employees signed an open letter addressed to CEO Sundar Pichai, urging him to reject any collaboration that would allow the U.S. government to use the company’s artificial intelligence technologies in covert military operations, according to the Financial Times.

The letter, sent on Monday, emphasizes that the employees want to “harness AI to serve humanity, not to use it in inhumane or highly harmful ways,” pointing to risks that include autonomous weapons, mass surveillance systems, and other potential uses that may extend beyond these areas.

The employees added in the letter that “the only way to ensure that Google is not associated with these harms is to reject any covert work,” warning that proceeding down this path could lead to the use of technologies without the employees’ knowledge or ability to stop them.
