استقبل الأمين العام لجامعة الدول العربية أحمد أبو الغيط، أمس (الأربعاء) بمقر الأمانة العامة للجامعة، رئيس جمهورية فنلندا الكسندر ستوب، في إطار زيارته الرسمية إلى مصر، وألقى عقب المقابلة كلمة أمام المندوبين الدائمين لدى الجامعة العربية.

وشهد اللقاء تبادلاً معمقاً لوجهات النظر حول مجمل العلاقات العربية الفنلندية وسبل تعزيزها وتطويرها في مختلف المجالات، فضلاً عن التطورات الراهنة على الساحتين الإقليمية والدولية وفي مقدمتها القضية الفلسطينية والأوضاع الإنسانية الكارثية في قطاع غزة والضفة الغربية.

وأطلع أبو الغيط الرئيس الفنلندي على فحوى القرار الوزاري العربي الصادر أمس بتجديد إدانة ورفض الاعتداءات الإيرانية الآثمة على عدد من الدول العربية والمطالبة بتحميل إيران المسؤولية عما تسببت فيه هجماتها الغاشمة من خسائر وأضرار، فضلاً عن التعويض وجبر الضرر على نحو ما ينص عليه القانون الدولي.

وفي ما يتعلق بالوضع في فلسطين، نقل المتحدث باسم الأمين العام جمال رشدي عن أبوالغيط تقديره للمواقف المبدئية التي تتبناها جمهورية فنلندا إزاء القضية الفلسطينية، ودعمها الحلول السياسية العادلة القائمة على الشرعية الدولية، مؤكداً حرص جامعة الدول العربية على تعميق أطر التعاون والتشاور مع الجانب الفنلندي بما يخدم قضايا الأمن والاستقرار والسلام.

وأضاف رشدي أن الأمين العام استعرض خلال اللقاء الموقف العربي الثابت من القضية الفلسطينية، مشدداً على أن تحقيق السلام العادل والشامل في المنطقة لن يتأتى إلا من خلال إنهاء الاحتلال الإسرائيلي وإقامة الدولة الفلسطينية المستقلة وعاصمتها القدس الشرقية على حدود الرابع من يونيو 1967.

وثمّن أبو الغيط المواقف الأوروبية الداعمة لحل الدولتين، ومنها اعتراف عدد من الدول الأوروبية بدولة فلسطين، وهو ما يمثل خطوة في الاتجاه الصحيح نحو ترجمة الالتزامات الدولية على أرض الواقع.

وأكد الرئيس ألكسندر ستوب حرص جمهورية فنلندا على تطوير علاقاتها مع الدول العربية ومع جامعة الدول العربية بوصفها المنظمة الإقليمية الجامعة، مشيداً بالدور المحوري الذي تضطلع به الجامعة في معالجة قضايا المنطقة والدفع نحو الحلول السياسية لأزماتها، وأعرب عن قلق بلاده البالغ إزاء الأوضاع الإنسانية في قطاع غزة.

وأكد دعم فنلندا جهود التهدئة ومسار حل الدولتين باعتباره السبيل الوحيد لتحقيق سلام عادل ودائم، منوّها بأهمية تكثيف التشاور بين الجانبين العربي والفنلندي في القضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك، بما يعزز الشراكة القائمة ويفتح آفاقاً أرحب للتعاون في المرحلة القادمة.

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, received the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, yesterday (Wednesday) at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat, as part of his official visit to Egypt. Following the meeting, he delivered a speech to the permanent representatives to the Arab League.

The meeting witnessed an in-depth exchange of views on the overall Arab-Finnish relations and ways to enhance and develop them in various fields, as well as the current developments on both the regional and international fronts, particularly the Palestinian issue and the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Aboul Gheit briefed the Finnish president on the content of the Arab ministerial decision issued yesterday, which renewed condemnation and rejection of the Iranian aggressions against several Arab countries and called for holding Iran accountable for the losses and damages caused by its brutal attacks, as well as for compensation and reparation as stipulated by international law.

Regarding the situation in Palestine, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Jamal Rushdi, quoted Aboul Gheit’s appreciation for the principled positions adopted by the Republic of Finland regarding the Palestinian issue and its support for just political solutions based on international legitimacy, affirming the Arab League’s commitment to deepening frameworks of cooperation and consultation with the Finnish side in a way that serves the issues of security, stability, and peace.

Rushdi added that the Secretary-General reviewed during the meeting the Arab position on the Palestinian issue, emphasizing that achieving just and comprehensive peace in the region can only be realized through ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital along the borders of June 4, 1967.

Aboul Gheit praised the supportive European positions for the two-state solution, including the recognition of the State of Palestine by several European countries, which represents a step in the right direction towards translating international commitments into reality.

President Alexander Stubb affirmed Finland’s commitment to developing its relations with Arab countries and with the Arab League as the inclusive regional organization, commending the pivotal role played by the League in addressing regional issues and pushing towards political solutions for its crises. He expressed his country’s deep concern regarding the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

He confirmed Finland’s support for efforts to achieve calm and the two-state solution as the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace, noting the importance of intensifying consultations between the Arab and Finnish sides on issues of mutual interest, which enhances the existing partnership and opens broader horizons for cooperation in the upcoming phase.
