استجوب السيناتور الديمقراطي روبن جاليجو، المرشح لرئاسة الاحتياطي الفيدرالي الأمريكي كيفن وارش، بشأن تقارير تفيد بأن الرئيس دونالد ترمب طلب منه الالتزام بخفض أسعار الفائدة، وهو ما نفاه نفياً قاطعاً.
وقال وارش خلال جلسة استماع باللجنة المصرفية في مجلس الشيوخ، اليوم إن الرئيس لم يطلب منه قط مثل هذا الالتزام، وإنه لن يقبل به بأي حال من الأحوال. وشدد على تمسكه بنزاهته الشخصية.
قوة روتينية
وعلى صعيد آخر، كشف وارش عن رغبته في تقليص الميزانية العمومية للبنك المركزي، واصفاً تضخمها الحالي بأنه قوة روتينية غير مفيدة أقحمت الفيدرالي في معترك السياسة، وأعلن عزمه العمل بالتنسيق مع وزير الخزانة سكوت بيسنت لإيجاد سبل فعالة لتقليصها.
وشدد على أهمية التعاون مع الحكومة في مجالات التداخل التي تقع خارج نطاق السياسة النقدية. وتوقع أن يزداد هذا التعاون في المرحلة القادمة لضمان تناغم السياسات الاقتصادية العامة.

Warsh stated during a Senate Banking Committee hearing today that the president never asked him for such a commitment and that he would not accept it under any circumstances. He emphasized his commitment to personal integrity.

On another note, Warsh revealed his desire to reduce the central bank’s balance sheet, describing its current expansion as a routine power that has unnecessarily embroiled the Fed in politics. He announced his intention to work in coordination with Treasury Secretary Scott Pruitt to find effective ways to reduce it.
He stressed the importance of cooperating with the government in areas of overlap that fall outside the realm of monetary policy. He anticipated that this cooperation would increase in the coming phase to ensure harmony in overall economic policies.
