أعلنت الشرطة الاتحادية البرازيلية سحب الاعتماد الرسمي من ضابط اتصال أمريكي يعمل في برازيليا ضمن جهاز إنفاذ القانون، في إجراء وُصف بأنه «مبدأ المعاملة بالمثل»، في خطوة تعكس تصاعد التوترات الدبلوماسية بين البلدين.

جاء هذا القرار رداً مباشراً على طلب الولايات المتحدة من ضابط الشرطة الاتحادية البرازيلية مارسيلو إيفو دي كارفاليو مغادرة الأراضي الأمريكية، إذ كان يعمل كضابط اتصال مع وكالة الهجرة والجمارك الأمريكية في ميامي.

وقال المدير العام للشرطة الاتحادية البرازيلية أندريه رودريغيز، في مقابلة مع قناة GloboNews: «سحبتُ الاعتمادات بكل أسف.. أتمنى ألا يحدث هذا كله»، مؤكداً أن الإجراء لا يعني طرد الضابط الأمريكي من البرازيل، بل إيقاف قدرته على ممارسة مهماته الرسمية ولوصوله إلى قواعد البيانات البرازيلية.

من جانبها، أكدت وزارة الخارجية البرازيلية أن الخطوة الأمريكية «تخالف الممارسات الدبلوماسية الجيدة بين الدول الصديقة»، مشيرة إلى عدم طلب واشنطن توضيحات مسبقة قبل اتخاذ قرار الطرد.

واتهمت الولايات المتحدة الضابط البرازيلي مارسيلو إيفو بمحاولة «التلاعب» بنظام الهجرة الأمريكي لتجنب إجراءات التسليم الرسمية، ووصفت الأمر بأنه «مطاردة سياسية»، أما الجانب البرازيلي فيرفض هذه الاتهامات ويصفها بـ«الجنون» و«إساءة استخدام السلطة».

وتزامن هذا التصعيد مع توتر سياسي أوسع، مرتبط بمحاكمة الرئيس البرازيلي السابق جايير بولسونارو، الذي أُدين في قضايا تتعلق بمحاولة الانقلاب بعد خسارته الانتخابات أمام الرئيس الحالي لولا دا سيلفا، وهو ما زاد من حساسية العلاقات بين برازيليا وواشنطن.

وأثار الرئيس البرازيلي لويس إيناسيو لولا دا سيلفا الموضوع أثناء زيارته إلى ألمانيا، قائلاً: «إذا ثبت إساءة استخدام السلطة من قبل الولايات المتحدة ضد ضابطنا، فسنرد بالمثل ضد ضباطهم في البرازيل»، مؤكداً أن البرازيل لا تقبل «التدخل أو إساءة السلطة» من أي طرف.

The Brazilian Federal Police announced the withdrawal of official accreditation from an American liaison officer working in Brasília within the law enforcement agency, in a move described as a “principle of reciprocity,” reflecting the escalating diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

This decision came in direct response to the United States’ request for Brazilian Federal Police officer Marcelo Ivo de Carvalho to leave American territory, as he was serving as a liaison with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Miami.

André Rodrigues, the director general of the Brazilian Federal Police, stated in an interview with GloboNews: “I regret to have withdrawn the accreditations… I hope this all doesn’t happen,” emphasizing that the action does not mean the expulsion of the American officer from Brazil, but rather halts his ability to perform his official duties and access Brazilian databases.

For its part, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the American step “contradicts good diplomatic practices between friendly nations,” noting that Washington did not seek prior clarifications before making the expulsion decision.

The United States accused Brazilian officer Marcelo Ivo of attempting to “manipulate” the American immigration system to avoid formal extradition procedures, describing the matter as “political persecution,” while the Brazilian side rejects these accusations, labeling them as “madness” and “abuse of power.”

This escalation coincided with broader political tensions related to the trial of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who was convicted in cases related to an attempted coup after losing the elections to current President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, which heightened the sensitivity of relations between Brasília and Washington.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva raised the issue during his visit to Germany, stating: “If it is proven that the United States abused its power against our officer, we will respond in kind against their officers in Brazil,” affirming that Brazil does not accept “interference or abuse of power” from any party.
