اختراق مزعوم يطال مدير FBI.. مجموعة موالية لإيران تتبنى الهجوم – أخبار السعودية
أعلنت مجموعة قرصنة إلكترونية مرتبطة بإيران أنها تمكنت من اختراق حسابات شخصية تخص مدير مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي الأمريكي كاش باتيل، والحصول على ما وصفته بـ”معلومات شخصية وسرية” تشمل رسائل بريد إلكتروني ووثائق وملفات خاصة، وفق موقع “أكسيوس” الأمريكي.
وتأتي هذه المزاعم في وقت حساس، حيث قد يمثل الهجوم أحد أبرز فصول التصعيد السيبراني في ظل التوترات بين الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل من جهة، وإيران من جهة أخرى، ما قد يضع المدير الحالي للمكتب في موقف محرج.
من جانبه، أكد مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي أنه على علم بمحاولات “جهات خبيثة” استهداف البريد الإلكتروني الشخصي لباتيل، مشيرًا إلى اتخاذ إجراءات احترازية للحد من المخاطر. وأضاف أن البيانات المتداولة “قديمة بطبيعتها ولا تتضمن معلومات حكومية”.
المجموعة التي تطلق على نفسها اسم «هاندالا هاك تيم»Handala Hack Team نشرت عبر موقعها صورًا لباتيل، بالإضافة إلى مقتطفات من سيرته الذاتية، ودفعة من الرسائل الإلكترونية التي يُعتقد أنها مسروقة من حسابه الشخصي على Gmail.
وبحسب مراجعات صحفية، فإن الرسائل المسرّبة تعود إلى الفترة بين أوائل العقد الماضي وحتى عام 2019، ولا تتضمن أي معلومات تتعلق بعمليات حالية للمكتب.
وتكشف بعض الرسائل عن تفاصيل رحلاته، بما في ذلك حجوزات طيران وفنادق، إلى جانب مراسلات عائلية، ومناقشات تتعلق بإقراراته الضريبية، وكذلك استفسارات حول استئجار شقق في العاصمة واشنطن قبل أكثر من عقد.
وأوضحت المجموعة أن الهجوم جاء ردًا على عملية نفذها مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي الأسبوع الماضي، استهدفت مصادرة نطاقات إلكترونية تابعة لها، عقب إعلانها مسؤوليتها عن هجوم سيبراني على شركة التقنية الطبية الأمريكية «ستريكر».
وكتبت المجموعة في بيان: “بعد أن استعرض FBI قوته بمصادرة مواقعنا والإعلان عن مكافأة قدرها 10 ملايين دولار مقابل معلومات عن أعضائنا، قررنا الرد بطريقة لن تُنسى”.
ورغم خطورة الادعاءات، يشير خبراء إلى أن مثل هذه المجموعات غالبًا ما تبالغ في حجم اختراقاتها والبيانات التي تحصل عليها.
وكانت شبكة CNN قد أفادت في أواخر عام 2024 بأن قراصنة إيرانيين تمكنوا من الوصول إلى بعض اتصالات باتيل.
وتعتمد إيران، وفق خبراء، على مجموعات وسيطة مثل “Handala” لتنفيذ عملياتها السيبرانية، ما يجعل من الصعب توجيه اتهامات رسمية مباشرة للحكومة الإيرانية.
ويحذر مختصون من أن طهران قد تصعّد من هجماتها الإلكترونية، سواء عبر استهداف البنية التحتية الحيوية أو من خلال عمليات تضليل معلوماتي تهدف إلى نشر الفوضى والارتباك في ظل النزاع المستمر.
A hacking group linked to Iran announced that it managed to breach personal accounts belonging to FBI Director Kash Patel and obtain what it described as “personal and confidential information,” including emails, documents, and private files, according to the American website “Axios.”
These claims come at a sensitive time, as the attack may represent one of the most notable chapters of cyber escalation amid tensions between the United States and Israel on one side, and Iran on the other, which could place the current director of the bureau in an awkward position.
For its part, the FBI confirmed that it is aware of attempts by “malicious actors” to target Patel’s personal email, noting that precautionary measures have been taken to mitigate risks. It added that the circulated data is “old in nature and does not include government information.”
The group, which calls itself the “Handala Hack Team,” published images of Patel on its website, along with excerpts from his biography and a batch of emails believed to be stolen from his personal Gmail account.
According to media reviews, the leaked emails date back to the period between the early part of the last decade and 2019, and do not contain any information related to current operations of the bureau.
Some emails reveal details of his travels, including flight and hotel bookings, alongside family correspondence, discussions related to his tax returns, as well as inquiries about renting apartments in Washington, D.C., more than a decade ago.
The group clarified that the attack was in response to an operation carried out by the FBI last week, which targeted the seizure of electronic domains belonging to them, following their announcement of responsibility for a cyber attack on the American medical technology company “Striker.”
The group wrote in a statement: “After the FBI showcased its power by seizing our sites and announcing a reward of $10 million for information about our members, we decided to respond in a way that will not be forgotten.”
Despite the seriousness of the allegations, experts indicate that such groups often exaggerate the scale of their breaches and the data they obtain.
CNN reported in late 2024 that Iranian hackers managed to access some of Patel’s communications.
According to experts, Iran relies on intermediary groups like “Handala” to carry out its cyber operations, making it difficult to direct official accusations at the Iranian government.
Specialists warn that Tehran may escalate its cyber attacks, whether by targeting critical infrastructure or through information manipulation operations aimed at spreading chaos and confusion amid the ongoing conflict.
