أعلنت باكستان أن وزراء خارجية السعودية وتركيا ومصر سيزورون إسلام أباد، يومي الأحد والاثنين، لعقد اجتماع رباعي لبحث الجهود الدبلوماسية للتوصل إلى تسوية للحرب في الشرق الأوسط.
وأفاد بيان صادر عن وزارة الخارجية الباكستانية، اليوم السبت، بأن وزراء خارجية البلدان الأربعة سيجتمعون في العاصمة إسلام أباد في 29 و30 مارس بهدف إجراء محادثات معمقة حول سلسلة من المسائل، بما فيها جهود خفض التوتر في المنطقة.
وقال وزير الخارجية الباكستاني إسحاق دار في تصريحات لقناة «جيو نيوز» الباكستانية، إن الاجتماع كان من المقرر عقده في تركيا، لكنه دعا الوفود إلى إسلام أباد بسبب قيود تتعلق بالجدول الزمني.
وأضاف أن باكستان تعمل بصدق وإخلاص من أجل حل النزاعات الجارية، وتحظى بدعم قوي من الدول الصديقة. ولفت إلى أن المحادثات مع إيران مستمرة، لكن نظراً لحساسية المفاوضات، يمتنع المسؤولون عن الإدلاء بتصريحات علنية.
وذكر دار أن وزراء الخارجية الأربعة سيعقدون اجتماعات منفصلة مع رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني شهباز شريف بعد غدٍ الإثنين.
وأعلن مكتب رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني شهباز شريف أنه أجرى مكالمة هاتفية مع الرئيس الإيراني مسعود بزشكيان استمرت نحو الساعة لبحث التوتر الإقليمي وجهود السلام. وأضاف أن بزشكيان أبلغ شريف بضرورة «بناء الثقة لإجراء المحادثات»، مشيداً بدور باكستان في عملية السلام.
وكان وزير الخارجية الباكستاني إسحاق دار أكد، الخميس، أن بلاده تنقل الرسائل بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران، وتسعى لوضع نهاية للحرب الجارية في الشرق الأوسط منذ 28 فبراير الماضي.
فيما أوضح وزير الخارجية الألماني يوهان فاديفول، أن الولايات المتحدة وإيران تستعدان لإجراء محادثات مباشرة في باكستان.
وترفض طهران الاعتراف بإجراء محادثات مع الولايات المتحدة، إلا أن الإيرانيين قدموا رسمياً، عبر وسيط باكستاني، رداً على خطة أمريكية من 15 بنداً، وفق ما أوردت وكالة أنباء «تسنيم» الإيرانية، الخميس.
Pakistan announced that the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt will visit Islamabad on Sunday and Monday to hold a quadrilateral meeting to discuss diplomatic efforts to reach a settlement for the war in the Middle East.
A statement issued by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry on Saturday indicated that the foreign ministers of the four countries will meet in the capital Islamabad on March 29 and 30 with the aim of conducting in-depth discussions on a series of issues, including efforts to reduce tensions in the region.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated in remarks to Pakistan’s Geo News channel that the meeting was originally scheduled to take place in Turkey, but he invited the delegations to Islamabad due to scheduling constraints.
He added that Pakistan is working sincerely and diligently to resolve ongoing conflicts and enjoys strong support from friendly nations. He noted that talks with Iran are ongoing, but due to the sensitivity of the negotiations, officials refrain from making public statements.
Dar mentioned that the four foreign ministers will hold separate meetings with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday.
The office of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that he had a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Bezhakian that lasted about an hour to discuss regional tensions and peace efforts. He added that Bezhakian informed Sharif of the need to “build trust for negotiations,” praising Pakistan’s role in the peace process.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed on Thursday that his country is conveying messages between the United States and Iran, seeking to put an end to the ongoing war in the Middle East since February 28.
Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Johan Wadeful clarified that the United States and Iran are preparing to hold direct talks in Pakistan.
Tehran refuses to acknowledge conducting talks with the United States; however, the Iranians officially provided a response to a 15-point American plan through a Pakistani intermediary, according to the Iranian news agency Tasnim on Thursday.
