أكد الرئيس اللبناني جوزيف عون أن لبنان لا يمكنه خوض حروب الآخرين على أرضه، مشدداً على أن هذا التوجّه حدّده مجلس الوزراء في القرار الذي اتخذه قبل أسابيع، وذلك خلال استقباله اليوم (الثلاثاء) المسؤول البريطاني الأميرال إدوارد أهلجرن.

وشدد عون على أنه «لا رجوع عن قرارات الحكومة في شأن حصرية السلاح وقرار السلم والحرب»، معتبراً أن هذه القرارات تنسجم مع ما نصّ عليه الدستور واتفاق الطائف وخطاب القسم والبيان الوزاري، في تأكيد على تمسّك الدولة بمرجعيتها الكاملة في إدارة الشؤون السيادية.

وفيما يتعلق بالتطورات الميدانية، أشار الرئيس اللبناني إلى أنه «كان بالإمكان تفادي الحرب لو تجاوبت إسرائيل مع الدعوات للانسحاب من الأراضي التي احتلّتها والتزمت باتفاق عام 2024»، محمّلًا الجانب الإسرائيلي مسؤولية ما آلت إليه الأوضاع.

ولفت إلى أن «قصف إسرائيل للجسور يهدف إلى عزل قرى وبلدات جنوب الليطاني عن بقية المناطق اللبنانية»، محذراً من التداعيات السلبية التي يخلّفها هذا الاستهداف على الصعيدين الإنساني والاقتصادي.

تأتي مواقف الرئيس عون في ظل تصعيد عسكري متواصل، وتكثّف إسرائيل استهدافها للبنى التحتية، ولا سيما الجسور والمعابر الحيوية، في إطار سياسة تهدف إلى عزل مناطق جنوب الليطاني وقطع طرق الإمداد والتنقل.

وفي سياق التصعيد الميداني على الجبهة الجنوبية، أعلن المتحدث باسم الجيش الإسرائيلي أفيخاي أدرعي أن قوات لواء «غولاني» نفذت عملية برية مركّزة في جنوب لبنان، قال إنها أسفرت عن مقتل ثمانية عناصر من حزب الله وتدمير مجمّع عُثر داخله على فتحة نفق تحت الأرض كانت تؤدي إلى منطقة مكوث خرج منها المسلحون.

ولفت إلى أنه تم العثور داخل الفتحة على عشرات الوسائل القتالية، من بينها صواريخ مضادة للدروع، وبنادق من نوع كلاشنيكوف، ورشاشات يدوية، وقنابل يدوية.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun confirmed that Lebanon cannot fight the wars of others on its land, emphasizing that this direction was determined by the Cabinet in a decision made weeks ago, during his meeting today (Tuesday) with British official Admiral Edward Ahlgren.

Aoun stressed that “there is no going back on the government’s decisions regarding the exclusivity of arms and the decision of peace and war,” considering that these decisions are in line with what is stipulated in the constitution, the Taif Agreement, the oath of office, and the ministerial statement, reaffirming the state’s commitment to its full authority in managing sovereign affairs.

Regarding the field developments, the Lebanese president pointed out that “the war could have been avoided if Israel had responded to calls to withdraw from the territories it occupied and adhered to the 2024 agreement,” holding the Israeli side responsible for the current situation.

He noted that “Israel’s bombing of bridges aims to isolate the villages and towns south of the Litani River from the rest of the Lebanese areas,” warning of the negative repercussions this targeting has on both humanitarian and economic levels.

President Aoun’s statements come amid ongoing military escalation, with Israel intensifying its targeting of infrastructure, particularly bridges and vital crossings, as part of a policy aimed at isolating areas south of the Litani and cutting off supply and movement routes.

In the context of the military escalation on the southern front, Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee announced that the Golani Brigade carried out a focused ground operation in southern Lebanon, claiming it resulted in the death of eight Hezbollah members and the destruction of a compound where an underground tunnel opening was found, leading to an area from which militants had emerged.

He pointed out that dozens of weapons were found inside the opening, including anti-tank missiles, Kalashnikov rifles, machine guns, and hand grenades.
