كشفت وسائل إعلام أمريكية، اليوم (السبت)، تعرض السفارة الأمريكية في بغداد لهجوم بمسيّرتين، مؤكدة تصاعد الدخان من موقع الهجوم.

ونقلت شبكة «سي إن إن» الأمريكية عن مسؤول أمني قوله، إن طائرتين مسيّرتين استهدفتا السفارة الأمريكية في بغداد، فيما لا تزال المعلومات غير واضحة بشأن حجم الأضرار أو وقوع إصابات.

وأضاف المسؤول أن الهجوم وقع السبت، بينما أظهر مقطع فيديو حدّدت موقعه الشبكة، تصاعد دخان واندلاع نيران صغيرة من مبنى في محيط مجمّع السفارة داخل المنطقة الخضراء في العاصمة العراقية بغداد، مبينة أنها تواصلت مع السفارة الأمريكية ووزارة الخارجية والبيت الأبيض والقيادة المركزية الأمريكية للحصول على مزيد من المعلومات بشأن الحادثة.

وأفادت تقارير إعلامية في وقت سابق أن مقذوفاً أو صاروخاً أصاب مهبط طائرات داخل مجمّع السفارة الأمريكية في بغداد، مع تصاعد أعمدة دخان من الموقع، من دون إعلان فوري عن خسائر بشرية أو أضرار مؤكدة.

وأفادت وسائل إعلام عربية أن منظومة الدفاع الجوي في السفارة تضررت في القصف، وأن العمل جارٍ لإعادة تشغيلها.

وكانت «رويترز» قد نقلت عن مصادر أمنية، أنه تم إسقاط مسيّرة كانت تستهدف المركز الدبلوماسي الأمريكي.

The American network “CNN” reported from a security official that two drones targeted the U.S. embassy in Baghdad, while information about the extent of the damage or any injuries remains unclear.

The official added that the attack occurred on Saturday, while a video clip identified by the network showed smoke rising and small fires erupting from a building in the vicinity of the embassy complex within the Green Zone in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, noting that they had contacted the U.S. embassy, the State Department, the White House, and U.S. Central Command for more information regarding the incident.

Earlier media reports indicated that a projectile or missile hit a helicopter landing pad inside the U.S. embassy complex in Baghdad, with columns of smoke rising from the site, without an immediate announcement of casualties or confirmed damage.

Arab media reported that the embassy’s air defense system was damaged in the shelling, and efforts are underway to restore its operation.

Reuters had reported from security sources that a drone targeting the U.S. diplomatic center was shot down.
