أعلنت سفارة الولايات المتحدة في بيروت، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، أن أبوابها ستظل مغلقة حتى إشعار آخر، في إجراء احترازي يأتي على خلفية التوترات الأمنية المتصاعدة في المنطقة.

وجاء في بيان رسمي صادر عن السفارة: «بسبب التوترات الإقليمية المستمرة، ستظل سفارة الولايات المتحدة في بيروت مغلقة حتى إشعار آخر، حيث تم إلغاء جميع المواعيد القنصلية الروتينية والطارئة الأخرى، وسنتواصل مع الجمهور عند عودة العمليات إلى طبيعتها».

ولم يحدد البيان جدولاً زمنياً لإعادة الفتح، ولم يوضح تفاصيل حول آلية تقديم الخدمات القنصلية أو طرق التواصل مع المواطنين الأمريكيين خلال فترة الإغلاق.

وأكدت السفارة أن المواطنين الأمريكيين يمكنهم الاتصال بخطوط المساعدة الطارئة الدولية: من الولايات المتحدة وكندا على الرقم +1-888-407-4747، ومن الخارج على +1-202-501-4444.

ودعت السفارة المواطنين الأمريكيين في لبنان إلى المغادرة فوراً طالما تتوفر خيارات الرحلات التجارية، مشددة على أن الوضع الأمني «متقلب وغير متوقع»، مع وقوع غارات جوية في مناطق متعددة من البلاد، خاصة الجنوب والبقاع وأجزاء من بيروت.

يأتي إغلاق السفارة في سياق التصعيد العسكري المباشر بين الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل من جهة، وإيران من جهة أخرى، الذي بدأ السبت الماضي، بضربات جوية أمريكية-إسرائيلية واسعة النطاق على أهداف إيرانية بما في ذلك مواقع نووية وعسكرية، أسفرت عن مقتل المرشد الأعلى آية الله علي خامنئي وقادة في الحرس الثوري.

وردت إيران بإطلاق صواريخ ومسيرات على إسرائيل ومصالح وقواعد أمريكية في دول الخليج العربي، وأهداف أخرى في الأردن والعراق، وتوسع الصراع ليشمل هجمات من وكلاء إيران حزب الله في لبنان، الحوثيين في اليمن، مما أدى إلى عودة الاشتباكات الإسرائيلية-حزب الله في جنوب لبنان، وغارات إسرائيلية على ضواحي بيروت الجنوبية.

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut announced today (Tuesday) that its doors will remain closed until further notice, as a precautionary measure in light of the escalating security tensions in the region.

An official statement issued by the embassy stated: “Due to ongoing regional tensions, the U.S. Embassy in Beirut will remain closed until further notice, with all routine and other emergency consular appointments canceled. We will communicate with the public when operations return to normal.”

The statement did not specify a timeline for reopening, nor did it provide details on how consular services will be offered or how American citizens can communicate during the closure.

The embassy confirmed that American citizens can contact the international emergency assistance lines: from the United States and Canada at +1-888-407-4747, and from abroad at +1-202-501-4444.

The embassy urged American citizens in Lebanon to leave immediately as long as commercial flight options are available, emphasizing that the security situation is “volatile and unpredictable,” with airstrikes occurring in multiple areas of the country, particularly in the south, the Bekaa Valley, and parts of Beirut.

The embassy’s closure comes amid direct military escalation between the United States and Israel on one side, and Iran on the other, which began last Saturday with extensive U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets, including nuclear and military sites, resulting in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and leaders of the Revolutionary Guard.

Iran responded by launching missiles and drones at Israel and U.S. interests and bases in the Gulf Arab states, as well as other targets in Jordan and Iraq, with the conflict expanding to include attacks from Iran’s proxies, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthis in Yemen, leading to a resurgence of Israeli-Hezbollah clashes in southern Lebanon and Israeli airstrikes on southern suburbs of Beirut.
