قتل 5 من رجال الأمن في هجوم مسلح شنه مجهولون في مدينة كوهات بإقليم خيبر بختونخوا شمال غربي باكستان، اليوم (الثلاثاء).

وقال متحدث باسم الشرطة في المدينة المتاخمة لمناطق قبلية على الحدود مع أفغانستان: هاجم عدد من المسلحين دورية للشرطة، وكان من بين الضحايا ضابط كبير. كما أحرقوا سيارة الدورية.

وأضاف مسؤولو الشرطة، أن الهجوم وقع أثناء قيام فريق بقيادة نائب قائد الشرطة أسعد محمود خان الذي لقي حتفه في الهجوم بنقل محتجزين للتحقيق، حيث فتح المسلحون النار بشكل مفاجئ وعشوائي على السيارة، بحسب ما أوردت شبكة تلفزيون «دنيا نيوز» المحلية.

وإلى جانب نائب قائد الشرطة و4 من مرافقيه، لقي اثنان من المحتجزين، مصرعهما كما أصيب ثلاثة ضباط بجروح خطيرة ونقلوا إلى المستشفى لتلقي العلاج. وفي أعقاب الهجوم، نشرت قوة كبيرة من شرطة كوهات لتأمين المنطقة وإجراء عمليات تفتيش.

من جانبه، أدان رئيس وزراء رئيس وزراء إقليم خيبر بختونخوا، سهيل أفريدي، الهجوم ووصف بأنه «مأساوي للغاية».

وتأتي الحادثة في أعقاب هجوم شنه مسلحون، الإثنين، على مركز تفتيش تابع للشرطة قرب منطقة «بهاودر خيل» بإقليم خيبر بختونخوا، أودى بحياة 3 من أفراد الشرطة الفيدرالية، وأصاب 5 أشخاص.

وشنت باكستان غارات جوية في أفغانستان يوم السبت مستهدفة مواقع قالت إنها تابعة لمسلحين مسؤولين عن أحدث سلسلة من التفجيرات الانتحارية على أراضيها.

وذكرت كاب ول والأمم المتحدة أن 13 مدنيا على الأقل قتلوا جراء هذه الغارات. ووصف المتحدث باسم حكومة طالبان ذبيح الله مجاهد، الهجوم الباكستاني بأنه عمل إرهابي استهدف المدنيين على أراضي أفغانستان وانتهك سيادتها.

وتعد المناطق الحدودية مع أفغانستان معقلا لعدة جماعات متطرفة مسلحة، من بينها حركة طالبان الباكستانية، التي تخوض قتالا ضد الدولة منذ 2007.

Five security personnel were killed in an armed attack carried out by unknown assailants in the city of Kohat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, northwestern Pakistan, today (Tuesday).

A police spokesperson in the city, which borders tribal areas along the Afghan border, stated that a number of militants attacked a police patrol, and among the victims was a senior officer. They also set the patrol vehicle on fire.

Police officials added that the attack occurred while a team led by Deputy Police Chief Asad Mahmood Khan, who was killed in the attack, was transporting detainees for interrogation when the militants opened fire suddenly and indiscriminately on the vehicle, according to local television network “Dunya News.”

In addition to the Deputy Police Chief and four of his escorts, two detainees were killed, and three officers were seriously injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. Following the attack, a large force from Kohat police was deployed to secure the area and conduct searches.

For his part, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Suhail Afridi, condemned the attack, describing it as “extremely tragic.”

This incident follows an attack by militants on Monday at a police checkpoint near the “Bhauder Khail” area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which resulted in the deaths of three federal police officers and injured five others.

Pakistan conducted airstrikes in Afghanistan on Saturday targeting sites it claimed were linked to militants responsible for the latest series of suicide bombings on its territory.

Kabul and the United Nations reported that at least 13 civilians were killed as a result of these airstrikes. Taliban government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid described the Pakistani attack as a terrorist act targeting civilians on Afghan soil and violating its sovereignty.

The border areas with Afghanistan are a stronghold for several armed extremist groups, including the Pakistani Taliban, which has been fighting against the state since 2007.
