لم يحتج الأمر سوى لحظات قليلة حتى تحوّل هدوء المدينة العتيقة بتطوان إلى صدمة ثقيلة، بعد انهيار جزئي لبناية سكنية قديمة، انتهى بمأساة إنسانية راح ضحيتها طفلان، وسط ذهول سكان الحي الذين استيقظوا على أصوات الانهيار ونداءات الاستغاثة.

داخل بناية مكونة من طابق أرضي وطابقين علويين، كانت 5 أسر تعيش حياتها اليومية بشكل عادي، قبل أن ينهار جزء من المبنى فجأة في الساعات الأولى من صباح اليوم (السبت)، لتتحول الجدران التي تؤوي العائلات إلى كتل من الركام خلال لحظات.

وأفادت السلطات المغربية بإقليم تطوان أن الحادثة استنفرت مختلف المصالح فوراً، إذ هرعت فرق الوقاية المدنية والسلطات الأمنية إلى المكان، وبدأت عملية بحث دقيقة وسط الأنقاض، في سباق مع الوقت لإنقاذ من قد يكونون عالقين تحت الركام.

ووسط المشهد الصعب، تمكنت الفرق من انتشال جثة طفل يبلغ من العمر عشر سنوات، قبل أن يتم العثور لاحقاً على طفلة في الثامنة وهي على قيد الحياة، لكنها كانت في حالة حرجة للغاية، ونُقلت على وجه السرعة إلى المستشفى، إذ فارقت الحياة متأثرة بإصابتها.

ومع كل دقيقة كانت تمر، كان الحي العتيق يزداد صمتاً وثقلاً، بينما تتحول الجدران القديمة إلى سؤال كبير حول سلامة البنايات التي تعيش فيها أسر بأكملها دون أن تدرك أن الانهيار قد يأتي بلا إنذار.

وفي خلفية المشهد، جرى إشعار النيابة العامة المختصة لفتح تحقيق في ظروف وملابسات الحادثة، في وقت أعادت فيه الفاجعة فتح النقاش حول هشاشة بعض المباني داخل المدن القديمة، واحتمال تحولها إلى كوارث صامتة في أي لحظة.

It only took a few moments for the tranquility of the old city of Tetouan to turn into a heavy shock, after a partial collapse of an old residential building, resulting in a human tragedy that claimed the lives of two children, amidst the astonishment of the neighborhood residents who woke up to the sounds of the collapse and cries for help.

Inside a building consisting of a ground floor and two upper floors, five families were living their daily lives normally, before part of the structure suddenly collapsed in the early hours of the morning (Saturday), turning the walls that housed the families into piles of rubble in moments.

The Moroccan authorities in the Tetouan region reported that the incident immediately mobilized various services, as civil protection teams and security authorities rushed to the scene, and a meticulous search operation began amidst the debris, racing against time to rescue anyone who might be trapped under the rubble.

Amidst the difficult scene, the teams managed to recover the body of a ten-year-old boy, before later finding an eight-year-old girl alive, but in extremely critical condition, and she was quickly transported to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

With every passing minute, the old neighborhood grew quieter and heavier, while the old walls turned into a significant question about the safety of the buildings where entire families live, unaware that a collapse could come without warning.

In the background of the scene, the relevant public prosecution was notified to open an investigation into the circumstances and details of the incident, at a time when the tragedy reopened the discussion about the fragility of some buildings within old cities, and the possibility of them turning into silent disasters at any moment.
