في مشهد قلّما يُرى في عالم الطيران، تحوّل أحد الطرق السريعة في ولاية بنسلفانيا إلى ممر اضطراري لطائرة صغيرة، بعد تعرضها لعطل مفاجئ في المحرك، ليبرهن الطيار على قدرة عالية من الهدوء والسيطرة في مواجهة أزمة مفاجئة.
فقد شهد الطريق السريع I-78 هبوطاً اضطرارياً ناجحاً لطائرة من طراز Commander 114B، بعد إقلاعها من مطار مطار سولبرغ، حين تعطل محركها فجأة. وذكر التقرير أن الطيار، البالغ من العمر 65 عاماً، حاول التوجه إلى أقرب مطار، إلا أن العطل أجبره على اتخاذ قرار حاسم بالهبوط على الطريق السريع.
وكانت الطائرة تقل راكبة تبلغ من العمر 34 عاماً، وقد نجح الطيار في تنفيذ الهبوط بين السيارات المتحركة دون أي تصادم أو إصابات، في لحظة مثيرة وثّقتها كاميرات الشهود.
وأدت الواقعة إلى إغلاق المسارات المتجهة شرقاً قرب بلدة وايزنبرغ لساعات، قبل أن تتم إعادة فتح الطريق بعد سحب الطائرة إلى أقرب مطار، فيما أثارت الحادثة إعجاب الجميع لمهارة الطيار في التعامل مع موقف بالغ الخطورة.

The I-78 highway witnessed a successful emergency landing of a Commander 114B aircraft after taking off from Solberg Airport when its engine suddenly failed. The report stated that the 65-year-old pilot attempted to head to the nearest airport, but the malfunction forced him to make a decisive choice to land on the highway.
The aircraft was carrying a 34-year-old passenger, and the pilot successfully executed the landing among moving cars without any collisions or injuries, in a thrilling moment captured by witness cameras.
The incident led to the closure of eastbound lanes near the town of Weisenberg for hours, before the road was reopened after the plane was towed to the nearest airport, while the incident impressed everyone with the pilot’s skill in handling an extremely dangerous situation.
