أعلن الاتحاد العراقي لكرة القدم وضع برنامج إعداد متكامل للمنتخب الوطني، استعداداً لخوض نهائيات كأس العالم 2026، التي ستُقام في الولايات المتحدة وكندا والمكسيك.

وأوضح عضو الاتحاد غالب الزاملي أن التجمع الأول للمنتخب سيُقام في البصرة أواخر مايو القادم، على أن ينطلق المعسكر التدريبي عقب اختتام الدوري المحلي في 27 من الشهر ذاته. ومن المقرر أن يغادر المنتخب إلى إسبانيا لخوض مباراة ودية في الرابع من يونيو، مع وجود احتمال لمواجهة منتخب البرتغال خلال فترة المعسكر.

وأشار الزاملي إلى أن قائمة المنتخب التي ستغادر إلى إسبانيا ستضم اللاعبين المحليين والمحترفين على حد سواء، حيث سيخضع الجميع لبرنامج إعداد مكثف، قبل التوجه لاحقاً إلى الولايات المتحدة لاستكمال التحضيرات النهائية.

وبيّن أن المنتخب العراقي سيستهل مشواره في البطولة بمواجهة منتخب النرويج يوم 17 يونيو، ضمن منافسات المجموعة التاسعة، التي تضم أيضاً منتخبي فرنسا والسنغال. كما كشف مساعي لتنظيم مباراة ودية ثانية أمام منتخب أفريقي أو أحد الأندية المتواجدة في إسبانيا، بهدف رفع مستوى الجاهزية قبل مواجهة السنغال.

وأكد الزاملي أن الدعم الحكومي المرتقب سيوفر للمنتخب الإمكانات اللازمة لإعداد مثالي، مشدداً على أن هذه المشاركة تمثل عودة تاريخية للعراق إلى المونديال بعد غياب دام 40 عاماً منذ آخر ظهور له في نسخة المكسيك.

وفي السياق ذاته، أعلن رئيس الاتحاد عدنان درجال أن المنتخب سيخوض 3 مباريات ودية أمام منتخبات قوية ضمن برنامج التحضير. وأوضح أن الاستعدادات الفعلية ستنطلق مع تجمع اللاعبين يوم 25 مايو، تحت إشراف المدرب الأسترالي غراهام أرنولد.

وبيّن درجال أن المعسكر التدريبي سيمتد لـ3 أسابيع، وسيتخلله خوض مباراتين وديتين على الأقل، مع العمل على تأمين مواجهة ثالثة أمام منتخب عالمي، بما ينسجم مع حجم التحدي في البطولة. وأشار إلى أن إحدى المباريات قد تُقام في بغداد في حال توافرت الظروف المناسبة، فيما ستُقام مباريات أخرى خارج البلاد، من بينها مواجهة محتملة في أوروبا، وأخرى يُسعى لتنظيمها في الولايات المتحدة، فضلاً عن تواصل قائم مع الاتحاد الإسباني لترتيب لقاء ودي هناك.

وأضاف درجال أن قائمة المنتخب لا تزال مفتوحة، ولا توجد قيود على استدعاء اللاعبين، سواء من الدوري العراقي أو من المحترفين في الخارج، مؤكداً أن باب الاختيار متاح وفقاً لرؤية الجهاز الفني.

يُذكر أن المنتخب العراقي حجز بطاقة التأهل إلى نهائيات كأس العالم 2026 عقب فوزه على منتخب بوليفيا بنتيجة 2-1، في مباراة الملحق العالمي التي أُقيمت في مدينة مونتيري.

The Iraqi Football Association announced a comprehensive preparation program for the national team in anticipation of participating in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Member of the federation, Ghaleb Al-Zamli, clarified that the first gathering of the team will take place in Basra at the end of May, with the training camp starting after the conclusion of the local league on the 27th of the same month. The team is scheduled to leave for Spain to play a friendly match on June 4, with a possibility of facing the Portuguese national team during the camp.

Al-Zamli indicated that the squad heading to Spain will include both local and professional players, as everyone will undergo an intensive preparation program before later heading to the United States to complete the final preparations.

He explained that the Iraqi team will begin its journey in the tournament by facing the Norwegian national team on June 17, as part of Group Nine, which also includes France and Senegal. He also revealed efforts to organize a second friendly match against an African team or one of the clubs in Spain, aiming to enhance readiness before facing Senegal.

Al-Zamli confirmed that the anticipated government support will provide the team with the necessary resources for ideal preparation, emphasizing that this participation represents a historic return for Iraq to the World Cup after a 40-year absence since its last appearance in the Mexico edition.

In the same context, the federation president, Adnan Darjal, announced that the team will play three friendly matches against strong teams as part of the preparation program. He clarified that actual preparations will commence with the gathering of players on May 25, under the supervision of Australian coach Graham Arnold.

Darjal indicated that the training camp will last for three weeks, during which at least two friendly matches will be played, while efforts will be made to secure a third match against a world-class team, in line with the level of challenge in the tournament. He noted that one of the matches could take place in Baghdad if the conditions are suitable, while other matches will be held abroad, including a potential match in Europe and another being organized in the United States, in addition to ongoing communication with the Spanish federation to arrange a friendly match there.

Darjal added that the squad list remains open, with no restrictions on calling up players, whether from the Iraqi league or professionals abroad, confirming that the selection process is based on the technical staff’s vision.

It is worth mentioning that the Iraqi team secured a spot in the 2026 World Cup finals after defeating the Bolivian national team 2-1 in the global playoff match held in Monterrey.
