غرم الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم «UEFA» نادي بنفيكا البرتغالي 40 ألف يورو نتيجة التصرفات العنصرية والتمييزية من جماهيره خلال مواجهته أمام ريال مدريد في ملحق دوري أبطال أوروبا، إضافة إلى منع 500 مشجع من حضور المباراة الأوروبية القادمة على أرضه، مع فترة اختبار تمتد لعام كامل، وفق التقرير الذي بثه موقع الـ«RT». كما فرضت غرامات إضافية على بنفيكا بلغت 25 ألف يورو بسبب إلقاء الجماهير مقذوفات داخل أرض الملعب، و8 آلاف يورو لاستخدام مؤشرات الليزر، ليصل إجمالي العقوبات إلى 73 ألف يورو.

وشهدت المباراة، التي انتهت بخسارة بنفيكا (0-1) في 17 فبراير، تسجيل هدف وحيد عبر النجم البرازيلي فينيسيوس جونيور، الذي اتهم لاعب وسط بنفيكا جيانلوكا بريستياني بتوجيه إساءات عنصرية له، ما أدى إلى إيقاف اللقاء لمدة عشر دقائق، وبعد التحقيق، تم إيقاف بريستياني عن المشاركة في مباراة الإياب في مدريد، بعد خسارته ذهابا وإيابا أمام ريال مدريد بنتيجتي (0-1) و(1-2). وودع بنفيكا منافسات دور الـ16 من دوري أبطال أوروبا، لينهي مشواره القاري مبكرا هذا الموسم.

Benfica also faced additional fines totaling 25,000 euros for fans throwing objects onto the pitch, and 8,000 euros for using laser pointers, bringing the total penalties to 73,000 euros.

The match, which ended in a 0-1 loss for Benfica on February 17, saw a single goal scored by Brazilian star Vinícius Júnior, who accused Benfica midfielder Gianluca Prestianni of making racist remarks towards him, leading to a ten-minute suspension of the game. After an investigation, Prestianni was suspended from participating in the return match in Madrid, after losing both legs against Real Madrid with scores of 0-1 and 1-2. Benfica exited the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League, ending their continental campaign early this season.
