فازت اليابان 1-0 على أستراليا البلد المضيف في نهائي ​كأس آسيا لكرة القدم للسيدات، اليوم (السبت)، لتحقق اللقب القاري للمرة الثالثة في آخر 4 نسخ، وتتسبب ‌في خيبة أمل للجمهور القياسي الذي بلغ 74357 متفرجاً في ملعب أستراليا.

وسجلت مايكا هامانو الهدف الحاسم في الدقيقة 17، بعد أن استدارت خارج منطقة الجزاء وأطلقت تسديدة تجاوزت ماكنزي أرنولد حارسة مرمى أستراليا، والتي حاولت التصدي للكرة، لكنها استقرت في الشباك.

وقدمت أستراليا، بطلة آسيا 2010، أداء قوياً في مباراة ​نهائية عالية المستوى، ودفعت في النهاية ثمن عدم قدرتها على استغلال الفرص التي صنعتها.

وتم تقييد مهاجمة أستراليا سام كير ​داخل منطقة الجزاء، وفشلت زميلتها في الهجوم كايتلين فورد في استغلال مجموعة من الفرص.

وتصدى الدفاع لتسديدتين من اللاعبة البديلة إيميلي فان إيجموند، كما تصدت حارس مرمى اليابان أياكا ياماشيتا ببراعة لضربة ​رأس من ألانا كينيدي بعد تمريرة إيلي كاربنتر العرضية.

وحافظت اليابان، بطلة العالم السابقة، والتي كانت تخوض نهائي كأس آسيا للمرة السابعة، على تقدمها لتضيف لقباً آسيوياً آخر إلى لقبيها في عامي 2014 و2018.

وحظيت فورد بفرصة لمنح أستراليا بداية مثالية في الدقيقة 11 بعد تمريرة طويلة، لكنها سددت الكرة مباشرة نحو ياماشيتا.

ومنحت ياماشيتا فورد فرصة أخرى بتمريرة خاطئة، لكن مهاجمة أرسنال لم تتمكن من الحصول على الزاوية المناسبة لتسديد الكرة.

كما صنعت اليابان فرصاً بتمريراتها الدقيقة وتوغلاتها على الأجنحة، وتصدت أرنولد ببراعة لتسديدة من اللمسة الأولى من هيكارو كيتاجاوا.

Maika Hamano scored the decisive goal in the 17th minute, after she turned outside the penalty area and unleashed a shot that went past Mackenzie Arnold, the Australian goalkeeper, who tried to save the ball, but it settled into the net.

Australia, the 2010 Asian champions, put in a strong performance in a high-level final, ultimately paying the price for their inability to capitalize on the chances they created.

Australia’s forward Sam Kerr was restricted inside the penalty area, and her teammate Caitlin Foord failed to take advantage of a series of opportunities.

Japan was forced to defend fiercely in the last 10 minutes, as the Australian players surged forward in search of an equalizer, supported by the largest crowd in the history of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup.

The defense blocked two shots from substitute Emily van Egmond, and Japan’s goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita brilliantly saved a header from Alanna Kennedy after a cross from Ellie Carpenter.

Japan, the former world champions, who were playing in the Asian Cup final for the seventh time, maintained their lead to add another Asian title to their victories in 2014 and 2018.

Japan’s coach Nils Nielsen said: “The girls fought with all their might, I am really proud of them. It was hard to reach our usual level. They deserve to win, having won six matches, so I think it’s good that we lift the trophy,” according to Reuters.

Australia regretted the chances they squandered. Their coach Joe Montemurro said: “Japan scored a wonderful goal in the first half, and we did not.”

He added: “We had opportunities, and Japan had two chances as well. It was an even match, but Japan is currently an amazing team.”

Foord had a chance to give Australia an ideal start in the 11th minute after a long pass, but she shot the ball straight at Yamashita.

Yamashita gave Foord another opportunity with a misplaced pass, but the Arsenal forward couldn’t find the right angle to shoot.

Japan also created chances with their precise passes and wing penetrations, and Arnold expertly saved a first-time shot from Hikaru Kitagawa.

Another opportunity for Australia came from a pass by Kerr just before the end of the first half, but although Foord met the ball with a brilliant first touch, her shot went wide of the goal.

After the break, Japan’s Riko Ueki, the tournament’s top scorer with 6 goals, had two chances within 3 minutes to strengthen her lead in the scoring charts, but she misdirected a header from Kitagawa’s cross, before her second attempt went straight at Arnold, the Australian goalkeeper.

Japan faced a tough test in the second half that they had not encountered during the three weeks they spent in Australia, but they deserved the title after scoring 29 goals and conceding only once in the 6 matches they played in the tournament.

The defeat was a harsh shock for Australia’s golden generation, who had hoped to finally win a major title on home soil after reaching the semifinals of the Women’s World Cup hosted by the country three years ago.

Defender Steph Catley said: “This might be one of the hardest (defeats) of my career. I think we gave it our all. We were brave and created chances, but luck was not on our side.”
