أثار تداول وثيقة استخباراتية أمريكية قديمة جدلاً واسعاً بعد أن أعادت منصات الإنترنت نشرها أخيراً، إذ تشير الوثيقة إلى مراجعة علمية أجرتها وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية الأمريكية قبل أكثر من 60 عاماً حول أبحاث تناولت احتمال وجود علاج لمرض السرطان، ما فتح باب التساؤلات حول سبب بقائها في الأرشيف طوال تلك الفترة.

وتعود الوثيقة إلى فبراير 1951، وتضمنت ملخصاً لدراسة علمية سوفيتية ناقشت أوجه التشابه البيولوجي بين الأورام السرطانية وبعض الكائنات الطفيلية، مثل الديدان، مشيرة إلى أن كليهما يعتمد على ظروف أيضية متشابهة ويخزن كميات كبيرة من مادة الجليكوجين التي تُعد مصدراً للطاقة داخل الخلايا.

وبحسب ما ورد في الوثيقة، افترض الباحثون آنذاك أن فهم هذه الخصائص المشتركة قد يفتح باباً لتطوير علاج يستهدف تلك العمليات الحيوية داخل الخلايا السرطانية، وهو ما دفع الاستخبارات الأمريكية في ذلك الوقت إلى متابعة تلك الأبحاث ومراجعتها ضمن تقارير علمية داخلية.

ورغم أن الوثيقة رُفعت عنها السرية منذ 2014 ضمن أرشيفات حكومية أمريكية، فإنها لم تحظَ باهتمام واسع في ذلك الوقت، قبل أن تعود إلى الواجهة أخيراً بعد إعادة تداولها على منصات التواصل، ما دفع كثيرين إلى تفسيرها على أنها دليل على «علاج مخفي للسرطان».

لكن مختصين في مجال أبحاث السرطان يؤكدون أن مثل هذه الوثائق لا تعني بالضرورة وجود علاج مكتمل تم إخفاؤه، بل تعكس مرحلة مبكرة من النقاشات العلمية التي كانت تستكشف فرضيات مختلفة لفهم طبيعة السرطان، وهو مرض معقد لا يمثل حالة واحدة بل مجموعة كبيرة من الأمراض المختلفة.

The circulation of an old American intelligence document has sparked widespread controversy after it was recently republished on internet platforms. The document refers to a scientific review conducted by the American Central Intelligence Agency over 60 years ago regarding research into the possibility of a cure for cancer, raising questions about why it remained in the archives for so long.

The document dates back to February 1951 and includes a summary of a Soviet scientific study that discussed the biological similarities between cancerous tumors and certain parasitic organisms, such as worms, noting that both rely on similar metabolic conditions and store large amounts of glycogen, which serves as an energy source within cells.

According to the document, researchers at the time hypothesized that understanding these shared characteristics could open the door to developing a treatment targeting those vital processes within cancer cells, which prompted American intelligence at that time to follow up on and review this research as part of internal scientific reports.

Although the document was declassified in 2014 as part of U.S. government archives, it did not receive widespread attention at that time, before resurfacing recently after being circulated on social media, leading many to interpret it as evidence of a “hidden cure for cancer.”

However, specialists in cancer research emphasize that such documents do not necessarily imply the existence of a completed treatment that has been concealed, but rather reflect an early stage of scientific discussions exploring various hypotheses to understand the nature of cancer, a complex disease that does not represent a single condition but rather a large array of different diseases.
