وأوضح رودجرز أن الأهلي نجح في الشوط الأول في تفكيك خطوط فريقه والسيطرة على مجريات اللعب بفضل جودة لاعبيه وطريقتهم الذكية، مشيرًا إلى أنه تحدث مع اللاعبين بين الشوطين وطلب منهم العودة للعب بأسلوبهم المعتاد.
