كان مشهداً لافتاً عندما رأينا الرئيس دونالد ترمب يؤدي جلسة في البيت الأبيض للحصول على مباركة لحربه ضد إيران بحضور مجموعة من القساوسة يدعون له بالنصر، ثم ظهور مستشارته الروحية التي قالت في ما قالت: «إن قول لا للرئيس ترمب بمثابة قول لا لله». وقد ذكر بعض المعلقين في وسائل التواصل أن ما حدث يُعتبر طقساً دينياً في الإنجيلية البروتستانتية التي تعتبر قيام مملكة إسرائيل الكبرى جزءاً من عقيدة عودة المسيح عليه السلام. وقبل ذلك انتشر خبر بأنه تم تقديم حوالى 200 شكوى داخل الجيش الأمريكي من الإيعاز بأن ترمب يقود حرب نهاية الزمان.

الجانب المهم في هذا الحدث أنه إذا كان فعلاً يتم توظيف العنصر الديني لدى أمريكا في هذه الحرب فإن أضلاع المثلث الديني تكون قد اكتملت لدى الأطراف المشاركة فيها. نتانياهو يصرح منذ فترة طويلة بأنه يقوم بواجب مقدس في حروبه لاستعادة حق إلهي لليهود، وإيران منذ قيام الثورة ترفع شعار الحرب ضد الشيطان الأكبر والصليبيين الجدد، والآن رئيس أكبر دولة علمانية يُعتبر خلط السياسة بالدين فيها أحد أهم المحظورات، يقوم بإعطاء صبغة دينية لقيامه بشن الحرب على إيران، وبالتالي نحن إزاء تحول غير عادي في تبريرات الحرب في العصر الحديث، لا سيما حين يستخدمه رئيس أقوى دولة في العالم.

تقول المعلومات إن الحروب التي قامت استناداً على أساس ديني لا تزيد على 7% من كل الحروب عبر التأريخ، ومعظم الصراعات الحديثة تخلط بين السياسة والقومية والاقتصاد، وربما توظف العامل الديني أحياناً بشكل غير مباشر دون الجهر به، لكننا الآن أمام مفارقة لافتة تحدث في الألفية الثالثة التي تفصلها قرون طويلة عن آخر الحروب التي تستمد أسبابها ووقودها من العنصر الديني.

وعلى أي حال، ورغم هذا الحدث اللافت، الجميع يعرف أن السياسة والمصالح الدنيوية هما محركا الحروب، والحرب الدائرة الآن ليست استثناءً. إيران كانت تتعامل مع الشيطان الأكبر سراً وعلناً، وأمريكا لو تحقق لها ما تريده دون خيار الحرب لفعلت، كل طرف يريد تحقيق مصلحته وفق اعتباراته، وربما تكون إسرائيل هي الطرف الأكثر توظيفاً لأساطير تربطها بحق إلهي مزعوم.

هل نحن إزاء عودة إلى مجاهل العالم القديم، أم أن الرئيس ترمب أراد أن يخرج علينا بمفاجأة جديدة من مفاجآته التي لا تتوقف.

Then, his spiritual advisor appeared, stating, “Saying no to President Trump is like saying no to God.” Some commentators on social media noted that what happened is considered a religious ritual in Protestant evangelicalism, which views the establishment of a Greater Israel as part of the doctrine of the return of Christ. Prior to this, news spread that about 200 complaints had been filed within the U.S. military regarding the insinuation that Trump is leading an end-times war.

The important aspect of this event is that if the religious element is indeed being employed in America for this war, then the sides of the religious triangle have been completed among the participating parties. Netanyahu has long stated that he is performing a sacred duty in his wars to reclaim a divine right for the Jews, and Iran, since the revolution, has raised the banner of war against the Great Satan and the new Crusaders. Now, the president of the largest secular state, where mixing politics with religion is considered one of the biggest taboos, is giving a religious tint to his waging of war against Iran. Thus, we are witnessing an extraordinary shift in justifications for war in the modern era, especially when it is used by the leader of the most powerful country in the world.

Information suggests that wars based on religious grounds account for no more than 7% of all wars throughout history, and most modern conflicts mix politics, nationalism, and economics. The religious factor may sometimes be employed indirectly without being openly stated, but we are now facing a notable paradox occurring in the third millennium, which is centuries removed from the last wars that drew their causes and fuel from religious elements.

In any case, despite this striking event, everyone knows that politics and worldly interests are the driving forces behind wars, and the ongoing war is no exception. Iran has been dealing with the Great Satan both secretly and publicly, and America would have acted on its desires without resorting to war if it could. Each party wants to achieve its interests according to its considerations, and perhaps Israel is the party most adept at utilizing myths that link it to an alleged divine right.

Are we witnessing a return to the obscurities of the ancient world, or did President Trump want to surprise us with yet another one of his unending surprises?
