يستعد مجلسا النواب والشيوخ، اليوم(الأربعاء)، للتصويت على قرارات تهدف إلى تقييد قدرة الرئيس دونالد ترمب على تنفيذ مزيد من الأعمال العسكرية ضد إيران، مع توقعات بفشل تقييد قرار الحرب لأن معظم الجمهوريين الـ53 يدعمون الإدارة في ملف إيران.

هذا النظام يحتضر

وأبلغ مسؤولون في الإدارة الأمريكية، المشرّعين خلال إفادات سرية أن عليهم توقّع «موجة ساحقة وأكبر من الضربات العسكرية ضد طهران في الأيام القادمة».

وقال السيناتور الجمهوري ليندسي غراهام من كارولاينا الجنوبية، أحد أبرز حلفاء ترمب، والذي كان يحثّه منذ أشهر على توجيه ضربات لإيران: «هذا النظام يحتضر.. كمية القوة النارية التي ستُوجَّه في اليومين القادمين ستكون ساحقة»، وفق ما نقلت عنه شبكة «أن بي سي».

وأضاف أن «ما سيحدث في الأيام القادمة سيكون أكبر بكثير مما رأيناه في الأيام الأخيرة». واعتبر أن تحرير إيران بات قريباً.. وبوابة السلام على وشك أن تُفتح.

هذه مجرد بداية

من جانبه، قال السيناتور الجمهوري جوش هاولي من ميزوري، أمس (الثلاثاء)، إنه تبلّغ بأن نطاق «العملية واسع جداً ويتطور بسرعة.. ويتغيّر كل ساعة». فيما أكد السيناتور الديمقراطي آندي كيم من نيوجيرسي، وهو مسؤول سابق في وزارة الخارجية وعمل سابقاً في الأمن القومي في إدارة الرئيس السابق باراك أوباما، أن مسؤولي الإدارة قالوا للمشرّعين إن موجة أكبر من الضربات ستستهدف إيران. وأضاف «هذه مجرد بداية لعملية قال كثيرون إنها ستكون طويلة جدًا».

إطلاق العنان ضد إيران

وكان وزير الخارجية ماركو روبيو ومسؤولون آخرون قدّموا إحاطة للكونغرس، مساء الثلاثاء، لافتين إلى أنهم «يتوقعون ضربات أقوى في المرحلة القادمة». وقال روبيو للصحفيين قبل ساعات من الجلسة، إن الولايات المتحدة ستقوم بـ«إطلاق العنان ضد إيران في الساعات والأيام القادمة». وأكد روبيو أن «أقسى الضربات لم تأتِ بعد».

يذكر أن روبيو ووزير الدفاع بيت هيغسِث، فضلاً عن مدير وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية جون راتكليف، والجنرال دان كين، رئيس هيئة الأركان المشتركة، كانوا قدموا إفادة للنواب والشيوخ حول الحرب ومبرراتها.

وأعلنت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية، أنها دمرت 17 سفينة إيرانية. وأضافت أن إيران أطلقت في المقابل أكثر من 500 صاروخ باليستي، وأكثر من 2000 طائرة مسيرة، مشيرة إلى أن «قدرة طهران على الضرب تتضاءل».

The House of Representatives and the Senate are preparing today (Wednesday) to vote on resolutions aimed at restricting President Donald Trump’s ability to carry out further military actions against Iran, with expectations that the war powers restriction will fail as most of the 53 Republicans support the administration on the Iran issue.

This regime is dying

U.S. administration officials informed lawmakers during confidential briefings that they should expect “a massive wave of military strikes against Tehran in the coming days.”

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina, one of Trump’s prominent allies who has been urging him for months to strike Iran, said: “This regime is dying… the amount of firepower that will be directed in the next two days will be overwhelming,” according to NBC News.

He added that “what will happen in the coming days will be much larger than what we have seen in recent days.” He considered that the liberation of Iran is near… and the gateway to peace is about to open.

This is just the beginning

For his part, Republican Senator Josh Hawley from Missouri said yesterday (Tuesday) that he had been informed that the scope of “the operation is very broad and evolving rapidly… changing every hour.” Meanwhile, Democratic Senator Andy Kim from New Jersey, a former State Department official who previously worked in national security during the administration of former President Barack Obama, confirmed that administration officials told lawmakers that a larger wave of strikes would target Iran. He added, “This is just the beginning of an operation that many have said will be very long.”

Unleashing against Iran

Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other officials briefed Congress on Tuesday evening, noting that they “expect stronger strikes in the next phase.” Rubio told reporters hours before the session that the United States would “unleash against Iran in the coming hours and days.” Rubio confirmed that “the harshest strikes have not come yet.”

It is worth mentioning that Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, as well as CIA Director John Ratcliffe and General Dan Kin, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, had provided a briefing to lawmakers on the war and its justifications.

The U.S. Central Command announced that it had destroyed 17 Iranian ships. It added that Iran had launched over 500 ballistic missiles and more than 2,000 drones in response, indicating that “Tehran’s striking capability is diminishing.”
