وعن دور رئيس النادي ونظرة الجماهير له،يقول الخبير المهتم بالتاريخ الرياضي محمد اليوسف لـ«عكاظ»: «إن تحميل رؤساء الأندية مسؤولية تراجع مستوى الأندية الجماهيرية وما يصاحبه من غضب جماهيري متصاعد، بات مشهداً متكرراً في الوسط الرياضي، فالجماهير بطبيعتها تبحث عن طرف واضح تحمّله أسباب الإخفاقات، وغالباً ما يكون رئيس النادي في الواجهة، فالأندية ذات القاعدة الشعبية العريضة تعيش تحت ضغط دائم، لأن طموحات جماهيرها لا تتوقف عند حدود المشاركة، بل تتجاوزها إلى المنافسة الدائمة على البطولات، وأي تراجع فني أو إداري يفسر على أنه خلل في القيادة العليا».
وأوضح أن الصراع من أجل كراسي الأندية يطرح تساؤلات مشروعة، هل الهدف هو خدمة الكيان أم نيل الشهرة والأضواء؟ وبالتالي فإن العمل في رئاسة الأندية ليس منصباً تشريفياً ولا بوابة للظهور الإعلامي، بل مسؤولية ثقيلة تتطلب تضحية بالوقت والجهد والمال أحياناً، وبعض التجارب أثبتت أن غلبة الطموح الشخصي على المصلحة العامة تقود إلى قرارات متسرّعة، وصراعات داخلية، وانقسامات تؤثر بشكل مباشر على استقرار الفريق.
معايير واضحة
وبيَّن اليوسف أن هناك معايير واضحة تجعل رؤساء الأندية قريبين من قلوب الجماهير، وفي مقدمتها الصدق والشفافية في الطرح، والقدرة على التواصل الفعال، والعمل المؤسسي المنظم، كما أن الرؤساء الذين حققوا بطولات وإنجازات ملموسة حفروا أسماءهم في ذاكرة المشجعين؛ لأن الجماهير تقيس النجاح بلغة النتائج، فالبطولات ليست مجرد كؤوس تزين الخزائن، بل رمز لمرحلة إدارية ناجحة استطاعت الجمع بين التخطيط السليم والدعم الفني والاستقرار المالي.
وأشار إلى أن غياب الخبرة ومقومات القيادة وضعف الشخصية من العوامل التي تزيد من حدة المشكلات داخل منظومة النادي، فالرئيس الذي يفتقر إلى الحزم أو الرؤية الإستراتيجية يجد نفسه أسيراً للضغوط، سواء من الإعلام أو الجماهير أو حتى من داخل مجلس الإدارة، وهذا التردد ينعكس على قرارات التعاقدات وإدارة الأزمات والتعامل مع اللاعبين والأجهزة الفنية، ما يخلق بيئة متوترة تفتقر إلى الاستقرار.
النتائج معيار النجاح
وأكد اليوسف أن النتائج الإيجابية والإنجازات تبقى المعيار الحقيقي لنجاح رؤساء الأندية؛ لأنها تعكس جودة العمل الإداري من القاعدة إلى القمة، فالفريق الذي ينافس بثبات ويظهر بروح قتالية ويملك هوية واضحة داخل الملعب، غالباً ما يقف خلفه عمل إداري منظم ودعم مدروس، أما كثرة التغييرات في الأجهزة الفنية، وتراكم الإخفاقات، فهي مؤشرات على خلل إداري يحتاج إلى مراجعة شاملة.
وفي ما يتعلق بالجانب المالي داخل الأندية، قال اليوسف: «إن دور رئيس النادي لا يقتصر على متابعة النتائج، بل يمتد إلى معالجة ديون النادي ومطالب اللاعبين، وتأمين موارد مالية مستدامة، فالتأخر في صرف المستحقات ينعكس سلباً على الروح المعنوية، ويؤثر في أداء الفريق، والرئيس الناجح هو من يوازن بين الطموح الرياضي والقدرة المالية، ويعمل على بناء شراكات استثمارية تضمن استقرار النادي على المدى الطويل».
وختم اليوسف حديثه بالتأكيد على أن رئاسة الأندية تكليف قبل أن تكون تشريفاً، وأن الجماهير قد تغضب وتنتقد، لكنها في النهاية تنحاز لمن يعمل بصدق ويحقق الإنجاز، فالكرسي لا يصنع قيمة للرئيس، بل القيمة الحقيقية تصنع بالعمل الجاد والقرارات الحكيمة والقدرة على قيادة الكيان نحو منصات التتويج بثبات واستدامة.

Regarding the role of the club president and the fans’ perception of them, sports history expert Mohammed Al-Yusuf told “Okaz”: “Holding club presidents responsible for the decline in the performance of popular clubs, along with the rising fan anger, has become a recurring scene in the sports community. Fans, by nature, seek a clear party to blame for failures, and often the club president is at the forefront. Clubs with a broad popular base live under constant pressure because their supporters’ ambitions do not stop at mere participation but extend to ongoing competition for championships. Any technical or administrative decline is interpreted as a failure in upper management.”
He explained that the struggle for club chairs raises legitimate questions: Is the goal to serve the entity or to gain fame and spotlight? Therefore, working as a club president is not a ceremonial position or a gateway to media exposure, but a heavy responsibility that requires sacrifices of time, effort, and sometimes money. Some experiences have shown that personal ambition overshadowing the public interest leads to hasty decisions, internal conflicts, and divisions that directly affect the team’s stability.
Clear Criteria
Al-Yusuf indicated that there are clear criteria that make club presidents close to the hearts of fans, foremost among them being honesty and transparency in communication, the ability to engage effectively, and organized institutional work. Additionally, presidents who have achieved championships and tangible accomplishments have etched their names in the memories of supporters; because fans measure success in terms of results, championships are not just trophies adorning cabinets, but symbols of a successful administrative phase that managed to combine sound planning, technical support, and financial stability.
He pointed out that the absence of experience, leadership qualities, and weak personality are factors that exacerbate problems within the club’s system. A president lacking firmness or strategic vision finds themselves captive to pressures, whether from the media, fans, or even from within the board of directors. This hesitation reflects on decisions regarding contracts, crisis management, and dealings with players and technical staff, creating a tense environment lacking stability.
Results as a Measure of Success
Al-Yusuf affirmed that positive results and achievements remain the true measure of success for club presidents; they reflect the quality of administrative work from the ground up. A team that competes steadily, displays a fighting spirit, and possesses a clear identity on the field, often stands behind organized administrative work and well-considered support. In contrast, frequent changes in technical staff and a buildup of failures are indicators of administrative dysfunction that require comprehensive review.
Regarding the financial aspect within clubs, Al-Yusuf said: “The role of the club president is not limited to monitoring results but extends to addressing the club’s debts and player demands, and securing sustainable financial resources. Delays in disbursing dues negatively impact morale and affect the team’s performance. A successful president is one who balances sporting ambition with financial capability and works to build investment partnerships that ensure the club’s stability in the long term.”
Al-Yusuf concluded his remarks by emphasizing that leading clubs is a responsibility before it is an honor, and while fans may become angry and critical, in the end, they side with those who work sincerely and achieve results. The chair does not create value for the president; rather, true value is created through hard work, wise decisions, and the ability to lead the entity steadily and sustainably towards the podiums of victory.
