أوضح مدرب الاتحاد سيرجيو كونسيساو، أن اللاعبَين الفرنسيين كريم بنزيما ونغولو كانتي اللذين انتقلا من فريقه إلى الهلال السعودي وفنربخشه التركي خلال فترة الانتقالات الشتوية، أصبح أمرهما من الماضي وتم تجاوزه، ويجب عدم التوقف عنده كثيراً، مشيراً إلى أنهما لاعبان من طراز عالٍ، لكن الفريق يملك أيضاً لاعبين عالميين على غرار حسام عوار ويوسف النصيري وموسى ديابي وغيرهم. جاء ذلك خلال المؤتمر الصحفي الذي سبق مواجهة السد المقررة اليوم (الثلاثاء) على استاد جاسم بن حمد في الجولة الأخيرة من مرحلة الدوري لمنطقة الغرب من دوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة لكرة القدم.

وتابع كونسيساو: «مواجهة فريق كبير بحجم السد لن تكون سهلة، في ظل وجود عدد كبير من اللاعبين المميزين في صفوفه، وبقيادة مدرب خبير يملك مسيرة رائعة في كرة القدم العالمية»، مشدداً في الوقت نفسه على أن فريقه يسعى للظهور بأفضل صورة ممكنة، من أجل تحقيق الفوز ومواصلة العروض الطيبة التي يقدمها أخيراً، كاشفاً عن أن التحضير للمباراة كان ضيقاً جداً، في ظل ضغط كبير على المستويين المحلي والقاري، الأمر الذي يفرض على الجهاز الفني اتباع المداورة، ومنح عدد من اللاعبين الذي لم يحصلوا على دقائق لعب كثيرة فرصة المشاركة في المباراة، خصوصاً أن الفريق ضمن التأهل إلى الدور القادم، لكنه اعتبر أن المواجهة اختبار لإثبات الذات لعدد من عناصر الفريق.

He revealed that the preparation for the match was very tight, due to significant pressure on both local and continental levels, which necessitates the coaching staff to rotate players and give some who have not had much playing time the opportunity to participate in the match, especially since the team has already secured qualification for the next round.
