غرينلاند تُشعل أزمة عالمية.. أوروبا تهدد بالرد العسكري إذا هاجمت أمريكا الجزيرة الدانماركية – أخبار السعودية
أطلق مفوض الاتحاد الأوروبي لشؤون الدفاع والفضاء أندريوس كوبيليوس، تحذيراً حاداً أمس (الإثنين)، من أن أي استيلاء عسكري أمريكي على غرينلاند سيكون بمثابة «نهاية حلف الناتو»، مضيفاً أن ذلك سيؤدي إلى تأثير سلبي عميق على العلاقات عبر الأطلسي وعلى شعور المواطنين في أوروبا والولايات المتحدة.
وأكد كوبيليوس خلال مؤتمر أمني في السويد، أن الاتحاد الأوروبي مستعد لتقديم «دعم أمني» لغرينلاند إذا طلبت الدانمارك ذلك، بما يشمل «نشر قوات عسكرية وبنية تحتية دفاعية مثل السفن الحربية» وقدرات مكافحة الطائرات دون طيار (درونز).
وأشار مفوض الاتحاد الأوروبي لشؤون الدفاع والفضاء إلى أن المادة 42.7 من معاهدة الاتحاد الأوروبي تلزم الدول الأعضاء بتقديم مساعدة متبادلة في حال مواجهة أي عضو عدواناً عسكرياً.
تهديد بنهاية «الناتو»
وشدد كوبيليوس على أن أي احتلال بالقوة لغرينلاند – التي تُعد جزءاً من مملكة الدانمارك وتتمتع بحكم ذاتي – ستكون له آثار واسعة على التجارة والعلاقات الأمريكية الأوروبية، محذراً من أن التخطيط لانسحاب أمريكي من «الناتو» سيضع أوروبا أمام تحديات كبيرة في الدفاع عن نفسها، خصوصاً في ظل التوترات الجيوسياسية في المنطقة القطبية الشمالية.
وأعرب عن اتفاقه مع رئيسة الوزراء الدانماركية ميتي فريدريكسن، التي وصفت أي محاولة أمريكية للسيطرة على غرينلاند بالقوة بأنها «نهاية الناتو»، مضيفاً أن ذلك لن يؤثر فقط على المستوى الرسمي بل أيضاً على الرأي العام، قائلاً: «سيكون أمراً سلبياً جداً جداً بين الناس».
توترات متصاعدة
وتأتي تصريحات كوبيليوس في سياق توترات متصاعدة بين الولايات المتحدة وأوروبا، عقب تصريحات الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب المتكررة عن رغبته في «امتلاك غرينلاند» لأسباب أمنية إستراتيجية، خصوصاً لمواجهة النفوذ الروسي والصيني في المنطقة القطبية الشمالية.
وتعد غرينلاند، التي تبلغ مساحتها أكثر من مليونَي كيلومتر مرع ويغطيها الجليد بنسبة 80%، غنية بالمعادن النادرة والموارد الطبيعية، وتضم قاعدة عسكرية أمريكية رئيسية (ثولي) منذ الحرب العالمية الثانية.
وسبق أن رفضت الدانمارك أي عرض أمريكي لشراء الجزيرة، معتبرة غرينلاند جزءاً لا يتجزأ من مملكتها، مع الحكم الذاتي منذ 2009، وفي ديسمبر 2025، أعلنت حكومة غرينلاند تعزيز دفاعاتها تحت مظلة «الناتو»، رافضة أي سيطرة أمريكية «تحت أي ظرف».
The European Union Commissioner for Defense and Space, Andrius Kubilius, issued a sharp warning yesterday (Monday) that any American military takeover of Greenland would be tantamount to the “end of NATO,” adding that it would have a profoundly negative impact on transatlantic relations and on the sentiments of citizens in Europe and the United States.
Kubilius confirmed during a security conference in Sweden that the European Union is ready to provide “security support” to Greenland if Denmark requests it, including “deploying military forces and defensive infrastructure such as warships” and drone countermeasures.
The EU Commissioner for Defense and Space pointed out that Article 42.7 of the EU Treaty obliges member states to provide mutual assistance in the event that any member faces military aggression.
Threat of the End of NATO
Kubilius emphasized that any forcible occupation of Greenland—which is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and enjoys self-governance—would have wide-ranging effects on trade and American-European relations, warning that planning for an American withdrawal from NATO would present Europe with significant challenges in defending itself, especially in light of geopolitical tensions in the Arctic region.
He expressed his agreement with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who described any American attempt to seize Greenland by force as “the end of NATO,” adding that this would not only affect official levels but also public opinion, stating: “It would be a very, very negative thing among the people.”
Escalating Tensions
Kubilius’s statements come amid escalating tensions between the United States and Europe, following repeated remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump about his desire to “own Greenland” for strategic security reasons, particularly to counter Russian and Chinese influence in the Arctic region.
Greenland, which covers more than two million square kilometers and is 80% ice-covered, is rich in rare minerals and natural resources, and has housed a major U.S. military base (Thule) since World War II.
Denmark has previously rejected any American offer to purchase the island, considering Greenland an integral part of its kingdom, with self-governance since 2009. In December 2025, the Greenlandic government announced the enhancement of its defenses under the NATO umbrella, rejecting any American control “under any circumstances.”
