حصدت رواية «أغالب مجرى النهر» للروائي الجزائري سعيد خطيبي الجائزة العالمية للرواية العربية (البوكر) لعام 2026، في تتويجٍ يعكس حضور السرد العربي في لحظةٍ تاريخية مشحونة بالتحوّلات والأسئلة الكبرى.
سردٌ يقاوم الانجراف
في عمله الخامس، الصادر عن دار نوفل – هاشيت أنطوان، ينسج خطيبي حكاية إنسانٍ تائه بين الأقدار، يقاوم الانسياق مع التيار ويتمسّك بخيط الأمل في زمنٍ يغلب عليه القلق. روايةٌ تتأمل الاغتراب الإنساني وتختبر قدرة الفرد على النجاة وسط التحوّلات العاصفة.
لجنة التحكيم: رحلة عكس التاريخ
وصفت لجنة تحكيم الجائزة ، الرواية بأنها «رحلة شيّقة عكس مجرى التاريخ»، تغوص في البدايات الأولى للتحولات التي سبقت العشرية السوداء في الجزائر.
وأشارت إلى أن النص يقدّم مشهدًا مركّبًا يتطلب من القارئ إعادة ترتيب عناصره لاستخلاص دلالاته العميقة.
من القتل إلى الحياة… مسار الرواية
تقع الرواية في 288 صفحة، وتبدأ برغبةٍ في القتل لتنتهي برغبةٍ في الحياة، في انتقالٍ رمزي من العتمة إلى النور.
وتدور أحداثها بين مشرحة وعيادة وغرفة تحقيق، حيث تُستجوب امرأة متهمة بقتل زوجها، بالتوازي مع سعي مناضلين قدامى لتبرئة أنفسهم من تهمة العمالة، قبل أن تتقاطع المسارات في لوحة تمتد لنصف قرن من تاريخ الجزائر.
قضايا مسكوت عنها
تكشف الرواية عن طبقاتٍ اجتماعية عميقة، من فجوات الأجيال، إلى العلاقات الزوجية المتصدعة، مرورًا بالأمومة المثقلة، وصولًا إلى الاتجار بالأعضاء البشرية، في سردٍ يزاوج بين الألم والسخرية كآليةٍ لمواجهة الانهيار.
إشادة نقدية وتصاعد حكائي
أشاد الناقد بهاء بن نوّار ببنية الرواية، مؤكدًا أن حبكتها «تتقدّم تصاعديًا بحيث لا يملك القارئ إلا أن يواصل القراءة»، في إشارة إلى قدرتها على شدّ المتلقي حتى نهاياتها.
خطيبي: أتقاسم الفوز مع القائمة القصيرة
من جهته، أكد سعيد خطيبي أن هذه الدورة تُعد من أقوى دورات الجائزة منذ تأسيسها، مشيرًا إلى أنه يتقاسم هذا الفوز مع زملائه في القائمة القصيرة، لما تعلّمه منهم خلال الرحلة.
مسيرة أدبية وترجمات متعددة
وُلد خطيبي عام 1984 في مدينة بوسعادة، وحصل على ماجستير في الدراسات الثقافية من جامعة السوربون، إلى جانب ليسانس في الأدب الفرنسي.
صدر له خمس روايات، من أبرزها «نهاية الصحراء» (2022) التي نالت جائزة الشيخ زايد للكتاب 2023، فيما تُرجمت أعماله إلى سبع لغات، مؤكدةً حضوره في المشهد الأدبي العربي والعالمي.

Narrative that Resists Drift
In his fifth work, published by Nouvel – Hachette Antoine, Khatibi weaves the story of a person lost among destinies, resisting the pull of the current and clinging to a thread of hope in a time dominated by anxiety. A novel that contemplates human alienation and tests the individual’s ability to survive amidst stormy transformations.
Judging Committee: A Journey Against History
The judging committee described the novel as “an exciting journey against the current of history,” diving into the early beginnings of the transformations that preceded the black decade in Algeria.
They noted that the text presents a complex scene that requires the reader to rearrange its elements to extract its deep meanings.
From Death to Life… The Path of the Novel
The novel spans 288 pages, beginning with a desire for murder and ending with a desire for life, in a symbolic transition from darkness to light.
The events unfold between a morgue, a clinic, and an interrogation room, where a woman accused of killing her husband is questioned, alongside the efforts of former fighters to clear themselves of the charge of collaboration, before the paths intersect in a tableau that extends over half a century of Algeria’s history.
Silenced Issues
The novel reveals deep social layers, from generational gaps to fractured marital relationships, through burdensome motherhood, and reaching human organ trafficking, in a narrative that combines pain and irony as a mechanism to confront collapse.
Critical Acclaim and Rising Narrative Tension
Critic Baha Ben Nawar praised the structure of the novel, affirming that its plot “progresses in a rising manner such that the reader has no choice but to continue reading,” referring to its ability to engage the audience until its conclusion.
Khatibi: I Share the Victory with the Shortlist
For his part, Said Khatibi confirmed that this edition is one of the strongest since the award’s inception, noting that he shares this victory with his colleagues on the shortlist, for what he has learned from them throughout the journey.
Literary Journey and Multiple Translations
Khatibi was born in 1984 in the city of Bou Saada and obtained a Master’s degree in cultural studies from the Sorbonne, along with a Bachelor’s degree in French literature.
He has published five novels, the most notable of which is “The End of the Desert” (2022), which won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award in 2023, while his works have been translated into seven languages, affirming his presence in the Arab and global literary scene.
