تصاعدت مطالب سالكي طريق أبها – بلّحمر – بلّسمر – تنومة – النماص بمنطقة عسير، بضرورة إعادة تخطيط الطريق ورفع مستوى عناصر السلامة المرورية، في ظل الظروف الجوية المتكررة التي تشهدها المنطقة، وعلى رأسها كثافة الضباب وانعدام الرؤية الأفقية، ما يجعل التنقل محفوفاً بالمخاطر ويزيد من احتمالات وقوع الحوادث.

ويؤكد مرتادو الطريق أن المسارات تتحوّل، خصوصاً في ساعات الليل والصباح الباكر، إلى شبه معدومة الرؤية، الأمر الذي يستدعي تدخلاً عاجلاً لإعادة دهانات المسارات الأرضية وفق معايير عاكسة، وتزويد الطريق بـ «عيون القط» العاكسة والمضيئة التي تُسهِم في تحديد حدود المسار وتنبيه السائقين للمنعطفات.

كما شددو على أهمية تعزيز الإرشاد البصري عبر لوحات تحذيرية مضيئة وعلامات أرضية عاكسة تتناسب مع طبيعة الطريق الجبلية وكثافة الضباب الموسمية التي تشتهر بها مرتفعات عسير.

وطالبوا البلديات الواقعة على امتداد الطريق بصيانة أعمدة الإنارة القائمة واستكمال الناقص منها، مع ضمان التشغيل المستمر والصيانة الدورية، لما لذلك من أثر مباشر في رفع مستوى السلامة وتمكين قائدي المركبات من رؤية الطريق بوضوح.

وأشاروا إلى أن «رحلة الخطر اليومي» لا تقتصر على المسافرين العابرين، بل تشمل شريحة واسعة من المعلمين والمعلمات والطلاب والموظفين الذين يقطعون مئات الكيلومترات يومياً للوصول إلى أعمالهم وجامعاتهم، ويواجهون الضباب الكثيف في ساعات الذروة الصباحية، إذ تنعدم الرؤية تماماً وسط سباق مع الزمن للوصول قبل «بصمة الدوام» أو «طابور الصباح».

واختتموا بتأكيد أن تحسين البنية المرورية لهذا الطريق الحيوي لا يقتصر على إعادة التخطيط فحسب، بل يتطلب تكامل عناصر السلامة من إنارة وعواكس أرضية ولوحات إرشادية، بما يحد من الحوادث ويحافظ على سلامة مستخدمي الطريق، خصوصاً في ظل التغيرات المناخية التي تشهدها المنطقة.

The demands of travelers on the Abha – Balhamr – Balsamer – Tanomah – Al-Namas road in the Asir region have escalated for the necessity of redesigning the road and enhancing traffic safety elements, especially in light of the recurring weather conditions the area experiences, primarily the dense fog and lack of horizontal visibility, which makes travel fraught with dangers and increases the likelihood of accidents.

Road users confirm that the lanes turn into nearly zero visibility, especially during the night and early morning hours, which necessitates urgent intervention to repaint the road markings according to reflective standards, and to equip the road with reflective and illuminated “cat eyes” that help define the lane boundaries and alert drivers to curves.

They also emphasized the importance of enhancing visual guidance through illuminated warning signs and reflective ground markings that are suitable for the mountainous nature of the road and the seasonal dense fog that the Asir heights are known for.

They called on the municipalities along the road to maintain the existing lighting poles and complete any missing ones, ensuring continuous operation and regular maintenance, as this has a direct impact on improving safety and enabling vehicle drivers to see the road clearly.

They pointed out that the “daily danger journey” is not limited to passing travelers but includes a wide range of teachers, students, and employees who travel hundreds of kilometers daily to reach their workplaces and universities, facing thick fog during peak morning hours, where visibility is completely absent in a race against time to arrive before the “attendance stamp” or “morning queue.”

They concluded by affirming that improving the traffic infrastructure of this vital road is not limited to redesigning alone but requires the integration of safety elements such as lighting, ground reflectors, and guidance signs, which would reduce accidents and maintain the safety of road users, especially in light of the climatic changes the region is experiencing.
