كشف الرئيس التنفيذي للهيئة الملكية لمدينة مكة المكرمة والمشاعر المقدسة صالح الرشيد، عن إنجاز دراسات تنفيذ مطار مكة المكرمة وفق مواصفات عالمية، في خطوة استراتيجية تدعم مستهدفات رؤية 2030 وتعزز كفاءة البنية التحتية لخدمة ضيوف الرحمن، مع مراعاة عدم التأثير على جدوى المطارات في المدن المجاورة.

اعتماد التوجهات الاستراتيجية

أوضح الرشيد، في مقابلة مع مجلة «هارفارد بزنس ريفيو»، أن التوجهات الاستراتيجية والاقتصادية والاستثمارية لمشروع مطار مكة قد حظيت بالموافقة، ما يمهد للانتقال إلى مراحل التنفيذ الفعلية وفق نموذج استثماري متكامل.

شراكة مرتقبة مع القطاع الخاص

أكد أن الهيئة تعمل على تطوير نموذج استثماري بالشراكة مع القطاع الخاص، بهدف تحقيق الكفاءة التشغيلية والاستدامة الاقتصادية، بما يضمن نجاح المشروع وتعظيم أثره التنموي.

دون التأثير على المطارات المجاورة

وشدد على أن الدراسات راعت بشكل دقيق عدم التأثير على الجدوى الاقتصادية للمطارات القائمة في المدن المجاورة، في إطار تحقيق التكامل بين مشاريع النقل الجوي في المملكة.

مترو مكة.. جاهزية للطرح

وفي سياق متصل، أشار الرشيد إلى استكمال دراسات الجدوى والتصاميم الأولية لمشروع مترو مكة، مبيناً أنه تم رفعها إلى الجهات ذات العلاقة لاستكمال الإجراءات، تمهيداً لطرح المشروع في مراحله القادمة.

تعزيز البنية التحتية وخدمة الحجاج

يمثل المشروعان، مطار مكة ومتروها، ركيزة أساسية لتعزيز منظومة النقل والبنية التحتية في العاصمة المقدسة، بما يواكب النمو المتسارع ويعزز جودة الخدمات المقدمة لضيوف الرحمن.

وأوضح الرشيد أيضاً خططاً لمراقبة وإدارة حركة الحشود في المسجد الحرام والمناطق المحيطة به باستخدام الذكاء الاصطناعي لتحسين تجربة الزوار. وستُعرف هذه المبادرة باسم «مكة الذكية».

ولتحسين تجربة الحجاج، يشمل ذلك أيضاً التصوير الجوي المدمج مع تطبيق «بلدي» وأنظمة التنبؤ بحركة الحشود عند جسر الجمرات والمناطق المركزية الرئيسية.

كما سيتم إدخال المزيد من التحسينات على خدمات النقل الحالية، بما في ذلك تطوير أنظمة الحافلات وسيارات الأجرة والنقل المصحوب بمرشدين، إلى جانب إطلاق «تاكسي مكة»، الذي سيضم مركبات حديثة مجهزة بأنظمة تتبع وخيارات دفع إلكترونية، بالإضافة إلى نماذج كهربائية وهجينة.

تطوير البنية التحتية

تم إنجاز أجزاء رئيسية من الطرق الدائرية الأولى والثانية والثالثة وربطها بالطرق الرئيسية المؤدية إلى المسجد الحرام والمقدسات، بما في ذلك طريق الملك عبد العزيز وطريق إبراهيم الخليل، بالإضافة إلى تطوير مداخل المدينة.

المشاريع التنموية

تشمل المشاريع التنموية أيضًا تطوير ثمانية مواقع في عرفات تغطي مساحة تقارب 190 ألف متر مربع، وإنشاء خيام من طابقين على مساحة تزيد عن 33 ألف متر مربع، وتطوير عشرة أبراج سكنية تتسع لـ 27 ألف حاج، وبناء مستشفى طوارئ بسعة 200 سرير في منى.

The CEO of the Royal Commission for the City of Mecca and the Holy Sites, Saleh Al-Rasheed, revealed the completion of studies for the implementation of Mecca Airport according to international specifications, in a strategic move that supports the objectives of Vision 2030 and enhances the efficiency of infrastructure to serve the guests of the Merciful, while ensuring that it does not affect the viability of airports in neighboring cities.

Approval of Strategic Directions

Al-Rasheed clarified, in an interview with Harvard Business Review, that the strategic, economic, and investment directions for the Mecca Airport project have been approved, paving the way for the transition to actual implementation phases according to a comprehensive investment model.

Expected Partnership with the Private Sector

He confirmed that the commission is working on developing an investment model in partnership with the private sector, aiming to achieve operational efficiency and economic sustainability, ensuring the success of the project and maximizing its developmental impact.

Without Affecting Neighboring Airports

He emphasized that the studies carefully considered not to impact the economic viability of existing airports in neighboring cities, within the framework of achieving integration between air transport projects in the Kingdom.

Mecca Metro… Ready for Launch

In a related context, Al-Rasheed pointed out the completion of feasibility studies and preliminary designs for the Mecca Metro project, indicating that they have been submitted to the relevant authorities to complete the procedures, paving the way for the project to be launched in its upcoming phases.

Enhancing Infrastructure and Serving Pilgrims

The two projects, Mecca Airport and its metro, represent a fundamental pillar for enhancing the transport system and infrastructure in the holy capital, keeping pace with rapid growth and improving the quality of services provided to the guests of the Merciful.
Al-Rasheed also explained plans to monitor and manage crowd movement in the Grand Mosque and the surrounding areas using artificial intelligence to enhance the visitor experience. This initiative will be known as “Smart Mecca.”

To improve the experience of pilgrims, this also includes aerial photography integrated with the “Baladi” application and crowd movement prediction systems at the Jamarat Bridge and the main central areas.

Additionally, further improvements will be made to current transport services, including the development of bus systems, taxis, and guided transport, along with the launch of “Mecca Taxi,” which will feature modern vehicles equipped with tracking systems and electronic payment options, in addition to electric and hybrid models.

Infrastructure Development

Major parts of the first, second, and third ring roads have been completed and connected to the main roads leading to the Grand Mosque and the holy sites, including King Abdulaziz Road and Ibrahim Al-Khalil Road, in addition to developing the city entrances.

Development Projects

The development projects also include the development of eight sites in Arafat covering an area of approximately 190,000 square meters, the establishment of two-story tents over an area exceeding 33,000 square meters, the development of ten residential towers accommodating 27,000 pilgrims, and the construction of an emergency hospital with a capacity of 200 beds in Mina.
