«واشنطن بوست»: ترمب يدرس شن هجوم واسع لفتح «هرمز» – أخبار السعودية
كشفت وسائل إعلام أمريكية اليوم (الأحد) ارتفاع عدد الجنود الأمريكيين في منطقة الشرق الأوسط إلى 50000 جندي، مع وصول 2500 من مشاة البحرية (المارينز) و2500 بحّار آخرين.
ونقلت صحيفة «نيويورك تايمز» عن مسؤولين أمريكيين قولهم إن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب يدرس ما إذا كان سيحاول شن هجوم أكبر، مثل التوجه للسيطرة على جزيرة أو أراضٍ أخرى، في إطار سعيه لفتح مضيق هرمز.
في حين نقلت صحيفة «واشنطن بوست» عن مسؤولين أمريكين قولهم إن «أي عملية برية محتملة لن تصل إلى حد الغزو الشامل، لكنها قد تشمل غارات تنفذها قوات مشتركة من وحدات العمليات الخاصة وقوات المشاة التقليدية»، مؤكدين أن «هذه الترتيبات قيد الإعداد منذ أسابيع داخل البنتاغون».
وأضاف المسؤولون «هذه المهمة قد تعرّض العسكريين الأمريكيين لجملة من المخاطر، وسط هجمات إيرانية بالمسيّرات والصواريخ، إلى جانب الاشتباكات على الأرض، والعبوات الناسفة».
وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أن ترمب لم يكن واضحاً ما إذا كان يوافق على جميع خطط البنتاغون أو بعضها أو لن يوافق على أي منها، وسط إشارات متباينة من البيت الأبيض.
في الوقت ذاته، ذكرت القناة 12 الإسرائيلية أن إسرائيل والولايات المتحدة تعززان تنسيقهما العسكري استعداداً لاحتمال فشل المفاوضات مع إيران.
وتتزامن التحركات الأمريكية والإسرائيلية مع قصف عنيف تشهده طهران وعدد من المدن الإيرانية، وسط تأكيدات إعلامية إيرانية بانقطاع الكهرباء عن مناطق في طهران وكرج جراء تضرر محطات إثر استهدافها.
وعزت وكالات أنباء غربية انقطاع التيار الكهربائي عن مناطق في طهران إلى غارات جوية استهدفت عدد من محطات الكهرباء.
American media revealed today (Sunday) that the number of American soldiers in the Middle East has risen to 50,000, with the arrival of 2,500 Marines and 2,500 other sailors.
The New York Times reported that American officials said President Donald Trump is considering whether to attempt a larger attack, such as moving to seize an island or other territories, in his efforts to open the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, The Washington Post quoted American officials as saying that “any potential ground operation would not amount to a full-scale invasion, but it could include raids carried out by joint forces from special operations units and conventional infantry,” emphasizing that “these arrangements have been in preparation for weeks within the Pentagon.”
The officials added, “This mission could expose American military personnel to a range of risks, amid Iranian attacks with drones and missiles, as well as ground clashes and improvised explosive devices.”
The newspaper noted that Trump was not clear on whether he approves of all, some, or none of the Pentagon’s plans, amid mixed signals from the White House.
At the same time, Israeli Channel 12 reported that Israel and the United States are enhancing their military coordination in preparation for the possibility of negotiations with Iran failing.
The American and Israeli movements coincide with heavy bombardment being witnessed in Tehran and several Iranian cities, amid Iranian media reports of power outages in areas of Tehran and Karaj due to damage to power stations following targeted attacks.
Western news agencies attributed the power outages in areas of Tehran to airstrikes targeting several power stations.
