ضرب منتخب بولندا موعداً مهماً مع نظيره السويدي بعد تفوقهما على ألبانيا وأوكرانيا الخميس ضمن منافسات الملحق الأوروبي المؤهل لنهائيات كأس العالم 2026، إذ قلب منتخب بولندا تأخره على أرضه ووسط جماهيره أمام منتخب ألبانيا بهدف سجله أربير خوجا في الدقيقة 42 إلى فوز بفضل ثنائية روبرت ليفاندوفسكي وبيوتر زيلينسكي في الدقيقتين 63 و73.

فيما انتصر منتخب السويد على أوكرانيا بثلاثة أهداف لهدف بعدما فرض المهاجم فيكتور يوكيريس نفسه نجماً للقاء بتسجيله ثلاثية (هاتريك) المنتخب السويدي في الدقائق 6 و51 و73 من ركلة جزاء، فيما سجل البديل ماتفي بونومارينكو هدف أوكرانيا الوحيد (90).

وعانى المنتخب الأوكراني من خيبة أمل مريرة بهزيمة أخرى في مباراة فاصلة بعد أن خسر أمام ويلز في النسخة الماضية، ورغم أن السويد حصدت نقطتين فقط في تصفيات مخيبة، فإن المنتخب الذي يقوده حالياً المدرب الإنجليزي غراهام بوتر حصل على فرصة جديدة بفضل نتائجه في دوري الأمم، حيث يسعى لبلوغ النهائيات للمرة الأولى منذ 20 عاماً. وعوّض يوكيريس الذي يدافع عن ألوان أرسنال الإنجليزي بأفضل طريقة ممكنة غياب مواطنه ألكسندر أيزاك مهاجم ليفربول الذي لم يتعاف بعد من كسر في الساق تعرّض له في ديسمبر.

وبذلك يضرب منتخب بولندا موعداً مع نظيره السويدي في نهائي المسار الثاني للملحق الأوروبي، وذلك من أجل حسم أحد المقاعد الأوروبية الأربعة للمونديال.

The Polish national team has set an important date with its Swedish counterpart after both teams triumphed over Albania and Ukraine on Thursday in the European playoff for the 2026 World Cup. The Polish team turned around a deficit at home in front of their fans against Albania, with a goal scored by Arber Hoxha in the 42nd minute, to win thanks to a brace from Robert Lewandowski and Piotr Zielinski in the 63rd and 73rd minutes.

Meanwhile, the Swedish team defeated Ukraine with a score of three goals to one, as striker Viktor Gyökeres established himself as the star of the match by scoring a hat-trick for the Swedish team in the 6th, 51st, and 73rd minutes from a penalty, while substitute Matviy Bonamarenko scored Ukraine’s only goal (90).

The Ukrainian team suffered a bitter disappointment with another defeat in a playoff match after losing to Wales in the previous edition. Although Sweden only earned two points in a disappointing qualifying campaign, the team, currently led by English coach Graham Potter, has been given a new opportunity thanks to its results in the Nations League, as it seeks to reach the finals for the first time in 20 years. Gyökeres, who plays for Arsenal in England, compensated in the best possible way for the absence of his compatriot Alexander Isak, the Liverpool striker, who has not yet recovered from a leg fracture he suffered in December.

Thus, the Polish national team will face its Swedish counterpart in the final of the second path of the European playoff, in order to secure one of the four European spots for the World Cup.
