شهد مطار لاغوارديا في نيويورك مساء الأحد حادثاً خطيراً على أرض المطار، حيث اصطدمت طائرة ركاب تابعة لشركة إير كندا إكسبريس التي تشغلها Jazz Aviation، بشاحنة إطفاء تابعة لهيئة الميناء أثناء تحركها على المدرج بعد هبوطها.

وقعت الحادثة نحو الساعة 11:40 مساءً بتوقيت نيويورك، وشملت الطائرة من طراز Bombardier CRJ-900 القادمة من مونتريال في رحلة رقم AC8646، حيث اصطدمت الطائرة بالمركبة الأرضية أثناء سيرها بعد الهبوط على المدرج رقم 4، في ظروف جوية ممطرة وانخفاض مستوى الرؤية وفقاً للبيانات الأولية من هيئة الطيران الفيدرالية الأمريكية ومنصات تتبع الرحلات.

وأسفر التصادم عن مصرع شخصين وإصابات خطيرة لعدد من رجال الإطفاء والشرطة التابعين لهيئة الميناء؛ حيث أفادت تقارير موثوقة بأن أربعة من رجال الإطفاء في حالة حرجة، بينما أصيب اثنان آخران من شرطة الهيئة بجروح بالغة، كما تم نقل عدد من الركاب وأفراد الطاقم إلى المستشفيات لتلقي العلاج من إصابات متفاوتة الخطورة، وسط تقارير متضاربة حول العدد الإجمالي للمصابين.

وأكدت شركة Jazz Aviation المشغلة للرحلة نيابة عن إير كندا أن الطائرة كانت تقل 72 راكباً و4 من أفراد الطاقم، وقد تم إجلاؤهم جميعاً باستخدام المناظير الطارئة دون وقوع حريق أو انفجار على متن الطائرة.

وأظهرت صور ومقاطع فيديو متداولة أضراراً جسيمة في مقدمة الطائرة، خاصة منطقة الأنف والكابينة الأمامية، ورداً على الحادث، أصدرت إدارة الطيران الفيدرالية أمراً بـإيقاف حركة الطيران الأرضية في مطار لاغوارديا، مما أدى إلى تحويل العديد من الرحلات الواردة وتعطيل كبير في حركة الملاحة الجوية بشرق الولايات المتحدة.

وفتحت السلطات الأمريكية بما فيها المجلس الوطني لسلامة النقل وهيئة الطيران الفيدرالية تحقيقاً فورياً لتحديد أسباب الاصطدام، حيث تشير التسجيلات الصوتية المتداولة لبرج المراقبة إلى أن المركبة الأرضية كانت تستجيب لحادث منفصل عندما صدر لها تصريح بعبور المدرج، تلاه أوامر طارئة بالتوقف الفوري قبل لحظات من الاصطدام.

LaGuardia Airport in New York witnessed a serious incident on the airport grounds on Sunday evening, where a passenger plane operated by Air Canada Express, managed by Jazz Aviation, collided with a fire truck belonging to the Port Authority while taxiing on the runway after landing.

The incident occurred around 11:40 PM New York time, involving a Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft coming from Montreal on flight AC8646, as the plane struck the ground vehicle while taxiing after landing on runway 4, in rainy weather conditions and reduced visibility, according to preliminary data from the Federal Aviation Administration and flight tracking platforms.

The collision resulted in the deaths of two individuals and serious injuries to several firefighters and police officers from the Port Authority; reliable reports indicated that four firefighters were in critical condition, while two other officers sustained severe injuries. Additionally, several passengers and crew members were transported to hospitals for treatment of injuries of varying severity, amid conflicting reports regarding the total number of injured.

Jazz Aviation, the operator of the flight on behalf of Air Canada, confirmed that the aircraft was carrying 72 passengers and 4 crew members, all of whom were evacuated using emergency slides without any fire or explosion on board the plane.

Images and videos circulating showed severe damage to the front of the aircraft, particularly the nose area and the cockpit. In response to the incident, the Federal Aviation Administration issued an order to halt ground operations at LaGuardia Airport, leading to the diversion of several incoming flights and significant disruption to air traffic in the eastern United States.

The U.S. authorities, including the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration, launched an immediate investigation to determine the causes of the collision, as audio recordings from the control tower indicate that the ground vehicle was responding to a separate incident when it was cleared to cross the runway, followed by emergency stop orders moments before the collision.
