وقال ترمب مخاطبًا لاعبي إنتر ميامي أمام ميسي مباشرة: «في يونيو الماضي، خلال كأس العالم للأندية، تنافستم مع أفضل الأندية في العالم… تعادلتم مع أفضل نادٍ في مصر، الفريق الذي يمتلك عددًا لا يصدق من اللاعبين الموهوبين»، في إشارة واضحة إلى التعادل السلبي 0-0 الذي جمع الفريقين في مباراة الافتتاح على ملعب هارد روك.

وأضاف ترمب في كلمته: «كان أداؤكم مذهلاً، وتعادلتم مع هذا الفريق الموهوب بشكل لا يصدق»، مشيدًا أيضًا بتألق حارس مرمى إنتر ميامي «أوستاري» في تلك المباراة، وتابع الحفل بتسليم ميسي قميصًا شخصيًا وكرة تذكارية، وسط تفاعل إيجابي من اللاعبين.

وأثار تصريح الرئيس الأمريكي موجة تفاعل هائلة في مصر على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، حيث اعتبره جماهير الأهلي «شهادة تاريخية» من «أقوى رجل في العالم»، مع انتشار هاشتاقات مثل ترمب يمدح الأهلي، والأهلي أفضل نادٍ في مصر.

ورد الإعلامي أحمد موسى بتدوينة شكر لترمب، قائلًا: «شهادة من زعيم أكبر دولة في العالم… ترمب يقول الحقيقة، شكرًا على دعمك لنادي القرن وبطل إفريقيا».
