أعاد الملياردير الأمريكي إيلون ماسك توجيه بوصلة طموحات شركته «سبيس إكس» نحو القمر، معلناً أن الأولوية القصوى باتت إنشاء مدينة بشرية مكتفية ذاتياً على سطحه خلال أقل من 10 أعوام، باعتباره «الطريق الأسرع لضمان مستقبل الحضارة»، مع الإبقاء على مشروع المريخ هدفاً إستراتيجياً لاحقاً.
القمر قبل المريخ
وقال ماسك إن «سبيس إكس» ستركّز في المرحلة القادمة على القمر، موضحاً أن بناء مدينة قمرية يمكن تحقيقه بزمن أقصر مقارنة بالمريخ، نظراً لقربه من الأرض وسهولة الوصول إليه. وأكد أن الشركة ستبدأ العمل على مشروع مدينة المريخ خلال 5 إلى 7 سنوات تقريباً، لكن القمر يظل الخيار الأكثر إلحاحاً في الوقت الراهن.
رحلات متكررة وتطوير سريع
وتشير خطط «سبيس إكس» إلى إمكانية إطلاق رحلات إلى القمر كل 10 أيام، بزمن رحلة لا يتجاوز يومين، ما يتيح إجراء تعديلات تقنية وتطويرات متسارعة. في المقابل، لا تتاح فرص الإطلاق إلى المريخ سوى كل 26 شهراً، مع زمن رحلة يصل إلى ستة أشهر، وهو ما يقلّص مرونة التطوير ويؤخر وتيرة البناء.
مدينة مكتفية ذاتياً
وأوضح ماسك أن المشروع القمري يندرج ضمن رؤية طويلة الأمد لتأسيس مستوطنات فضائية مستدامة، تعتمد على تقنيات متقدمة في النقل الفضائي منخفض التكلفة، وأنظمة دعم حياة قادرة على توفير الأكسجين والمياه والطاقة، إلى جانب بنية تحتية تتحمل ظروف الفضاء القاسية.
تحديات بيئية قاسية
وأشار إلى أن بيئة القمر تمثل تحدياً حقيقياً، في ظل الإشعاع العالي ودرجات الحرارة المتطرفة، ما يتطلب حلولاً هندسية وتقنية غير مسبوقة. ورغم ذلك، يرى ماسك أن تجاوز هذه العقبات سيشكّل قفزة نوعية في تاريخ الوجود البشري خارج الأرض.
خطوة نحو استيطان الكواكب
ويرى خبراء فضاء أن إنشاء مدينة على القمر قد يكون محطة تمهيدية أساسية نحو استيطان كواكب أخرى، وعلى رأسها المريخ، في ظل سباق دولي متصاعد بين وكالات الفضاء الحكومية والشركات الخاصة لإقامة قواعد دائمة على سطح القمر خلال العقود القادمة.

The Moon Before Mars
Musk stated that “SpaceX” will focus in the next phase on the moon, explaining that building a lunar city can be achieved in a shorter time compared to Mars, due to its proximity to Earth and ease of access. He confirmed that the company will start working on the Mars city project in about 5 to 7 years, but the moon remains the more urgent option at present.
Frequent Flights and Rapid Development
SpaceX’s plans indicate the possibility of launching flights to the moon every 10 days, with a travel time not exceeding two days, allowing for technical adjustments and rapid developments. In contrast, opportunities for launching to Mars are only available every 26 months, with a travel time of up to six months, which reduces development flexibility and delays the pace of construction.
A Self-Sustaining City
Musk clarified that the lunar project falls within a long-term vision for establishing sustainable space settlements, relying on advanced technologies in low-cost space transportation, and life support systems capable of providing oxygen, water, and energy, along with infrastructure that can withstand the harsh conditions of space.
Severe Environmental Challenges
He pointed out that the lunar environment poses a real challenge, given the high radiation and extreme temperatures, requiring unprecedented engineering and technical solutions. Nevertheless, Musk believes that overcoming these obstacles will represent a qualitative leap in the history of human existence beyond Earth.
A Step Towards Planetary Colonization
Space experts believe that establishing a city on the moon could be a crucial preliminary station towards colonizing other planets, particularly Mars, amid a rising international race between government space agencies and private companies to establish permanent bases on the moon’s surface in the coming decades.
