Days passed; and (Mafrook Al-Layyin) roamed and wandered through the villages, walking on his legs and crawling with his spirit; he cleaned houses; he was convinced that they would meet his needs, one day he shared some modern tea with some elders; and on days he drank coffee with widows and old women; the years had wrinkled their skin; and events had dried their tears, and time had thinned what remained of their eyebrow hairs, and he made them laugh with his stories and anecdotes; and he would share with them a bite of a flatbread baked in ash.

He expressed his desire for a bride; and promised those who would listen to him; with clothing that would make the Bedouins and the townsfolk hear of him; whenever they advised him, he would be confused and perplexed, and God is the planner; he asked them to inform him about marriages; what about the daughters of your community; why didn’t you propose in your village? So he confessed to her; that he is a shepherd of the land; and he wants a woman from a family of nobility and wealth; she said; your request is with me; and with cunning, she understood his hidden desires, and she revealed to him the flaws he had, and she dug into his secrets; so he spilled the beans; and told her that he and his family lived a life of hardship and struggle, and they spent their lives in poverty among their relatives; their bellies on their backs; and thus he resolved to marry a woman of ill-repute, to bear him children who would stand up for the oppressed from his ancestors and descendants.

The wise woman told him, strike in my hands a silver riyal; so he took it out from his waist, which was rare in its middle, its edges polished; she asked him; to wet it and not to focus his attention except in the gathering of her neighbor (Shamtan Al-Qasi) and advised him to seek it as a promise from God for his sister (Maitira) and described her to him as a merchant describing goods; and she clarified the advantages and disadvantages of what she knew about the merchandise except for its broker; and she lost for him what remained in its value from the leftovers; she would fill for him the streams with the children he would seek refuge from even from the jinn, so he hurried from then on, and called out, O people of the house; the wife of Al-Qasi welcomed him; and spread for him a mat at the door; and he barely had time to settle, when (Shamtan) entered upon him, his eyes sparking with fire, his fifth and his hand trembling; and he met her with joy and his face lit up; and soon he loosened his waist and extended it to the one he would hang it on the wall, so he heard the sound of silver, and felt its weight, he laughed; and he informed him; your sister Maitira, I have no choice about her, and he left them only the next day.

He entered upon his mother; accompanying him to see the bride, she said; O foreigner, she has no mercy nor shelter; you must go down and bring us; some herbs and cardamom, and coffee and some clothes; they arrived together at the relatives; and they overwhelmed her with greetings; and on their way back; she asked him; what did you find on her; O God, thanks to you; there is no seat in the sitting, nor a resting place in the sleeping; he wrapped his turban around her neck and asked her to be quiet, saying; I know, I know; she has neither face nor back; but her family does not permit nor forbid, O God, grant me children; who will pour the milk of life into the eyes of the elders before the young.

The bride left; and he took out his gun from his house and shot three bullets over her head; his mother advised him; to vow with them as soon as she enters upon him; and she said; (wait for her from her left foot and say, come to me, and hold the lobe of her right ear and say; and they came to me) and do not mention the Merciful; and rejoice with the righteous; he said; I was burdened by her concern, she does not wake up except as her mother did; so she felt shy and turned her back to him, and he forgot the instructions, and slept before the bride entered her room; he wanted to catch up with her before dawn, but he was shy from the sound of her voice echoing under the wing.

A year did not pass, except that her belly swelled; and God decreed that she would give birth to (Matar, and Mitran) and the joy did not last long; (Madhouf Al-Layyin) died and the relatives turned away from the orphan and the orphans; and as soon as her mourning period ended, they knocked on her doors and the backs of her children and said; your family has been blessed; return to your father’s rights; the boys grew up, and the complaints from the village about them increased; their neighbor said; I don’t know who took the eggs from under my chickens? and the accused; swore that they strangled his rooster; and the one who was involved was astonished at how they reached the gunpowder; and they wanted to burn his house with everyone in it; and the informant; took the burden of her cow, leaving it until it strayed away; and they entered the lower part and tied the harvest, and sucked out all the milk from it, while he watched in the creation of God with a heart full of sorrow.

They placed a mourning notice in every house, and after their strength grew, they decided to return to their father’s people, seeking their rights; and they clung to the throat of their cousin (Ni’mat Allah) so the community bore witness against them, and the community was with him during the day; and at night against him; and he was busy protecting the autumn until sunset, and he would graze until dawn; and on a night when its eyes were blind; they attacked the caravan; and they barely had time to cut the branches; when an arm like the arm of a camel struck them from behind and knocked their heads together, and they fell into a pile full of thorny bushes and dry acacia; they were scratched, and their blood was humbled to give; and the sun rose upon them; and every time a passerby came upon them, they would ask; what happened to you? they would reply; (Ni’mat Allah) and they would say; may God increase you; Matar asked his brother Mitran; to lift him to show up, and he was extending his hand to lift him; and they sat in the courtyard crying; he said; Mitran; come closer, let me pick your thorns, and then I will pick yours, he replied; no, no; each one should pick his own thorns with his own hand.
