رد مفوض الدوري الأمريكي دون غاربر على تصريحات مدير منتخب مصر إبراهيم حسن التي حث فيها مواطنه محمد صلاح على تجنب الانتقال إلى الدوري الأمريكي، بعد إعلان رحيله عن ليفربول الإنجليزي عقب نهاية الموسم الجاري.

تحذير من تراجع شعبية صلاح

وكان إبراهيم حسن قد حذر صلاح من الانتقال إلى الدوري الأمريكي، موضحاً أنه سيبتعد عن الأضواء وستتراجع شعبيته، كما حدث للنجم الأرجنتيني ليونيل ميسي بعد انتقاله إلى إنتر ميامي، ناصحاً إياه بالاستمرار في أوروبا أو الانتقال إلى الدوري السعودي.

رد دون غاربر

وقال غاربر في تصريحات لصحيفة «الغارديان» البريطانية رداً على تصريحات إبراهيم حسن: «حسناً، هذه أول مرة أسمع فيها شيئاً كهذا، ليونيل ميسي هو اللاعب الأكثر شعبية في العالم، سأكون سعيداً بإرسال اشتراك إلى المسؤول المصري حتى يتمكن من مشاهدة أكبر عدد ممكن من مباريات ميسي».

وأضاف: «أعتقد أن وجهة نظر إبراهيم حسن تعكس إلى حد كبير التحديات التي تواجهها رابطة الدوري الأمريكي لكرة القدم في سعيها للتطور، أتذكر قبل فترة ليست بالبعيدة أن مدربي المنتخب المكسيكي كانوا يقولون: «إذا كنت في الدوري الأمريكي، فلن تلعب لمنتخبنا»، لم يعد هذا نفس حال اليوم».

وتابع: «نحن نواجه باستمرار فكرة أننا لا ننجح أبداً، وهذا غير صحيح على الإطلاق، لقد قدم الدوري الأمريكي عشرات اللاعبين للدوريات الأوروبية، كما يلعب في دورينا بعض من أفضل لاعبي العالم، ولدينا أفضل المرافق مقارنة بأي دوري آخر في العالم، إلى جانب وجود مدرب المنتخب الأمريكي ماوريسيو بوتشيتينو، الذي له باع طويل في التدريب على أعلى المستويات، لقد واجهت الشكوك لمدة 27 عاماً، لكنها لم تثنِني قط، ولن تثنيني أبداً».

American League Commissioner Don Garber responded to the statements made by Egypt’s national team director Ibrahim Hassan, who urged his compatriot Mohamed Salah to avoid moving to the American league after announcing his departure from Liverpool at the end of the current season.

Warning About Salah’s Declining Popularity

Ibrahim Hassan had warned Salah against moving to the American league, explaining that he would be stepping away from the spotlight and his popularity would decline, similar to what happened to Argentine star Lionel Messi after his move to Inter Miami, advising him to stay in Europe or move to the Saudi league.

Garber’s Response

Garber said in statements to the British newspaper “The Guardian” in response to Ibrahim Hassan’s comments: “Well, this is the first time I’ve heard anything like this. Lionel Messi is the most popular player in the world, and I would be happy to send a subscription to the Egyptian official so he can watch as many Messi matches as possible.”

He added: “I think Ibrahim Hassan’s perspective largely reflects the challenges that Major League Soccer faces in its pursuit of growth. I remember not too long ago that the coaches of the Mexican national team would say, ‘If you’re in Major League Soccer, you won’t play for our national team.’ That is no longer the case today.”

He continued: “We constantly face the idea that we never succeed, and that is not true at all. Major League Soccer has produced dozens of players for European leagues, and some of the best players in the world play in our league. We have the best facilities compared to any other league in the world, along with the American national team coach Mauricio Pochettino, who has extensive experience coaching at the highest levels. I have faced doubts for 27 years, but they have never deterred me, and they will never deter me.”
