تتكرر على مسامع المُعيّدين في جازان عبارة «كبير كبر معيد»، وتعدُّ من أبرز عبارات التهنئة بالعيد في المنطقة، وهي موروث ثقافي وأيقونة في العيد يرددها كبار السن في تهنئتهم.

عبارة «كبير كبر معيد» تحضر مع عيد الفطر ولا يعي البعض معناها رغم حضورها لدى كبار السن في أمانيهم لأبنائهم بالعمر الطويل -على حد وصف العم عبدالله عواجي- الذي يشير إلى أن العبارة تحمل الكثير من العاطفة والأمل في أن يعيش متلقوها عمراً طويلاً بعمر العيد.

ويقول محمد مشلوي: إن الكثير من النشء لا يعرف معنى العبارة، وقد تمر عليه دون انتباه، وهي أيقونة التهاني في جازان، كبرنا عليها مع آبائنا وأمهاتنا الذين يتمنون لنا العمر الطويل بأن يعيش المعيّدون طويلاً بطول الأعياد، فهي تحمل الكثير من الأماني والأمل.. «نعم كبرنا ونحن نسمعها من كبار السن لدينا ولم نعِ معناها إلا بعد سنوات، وقد تواكبها عبارة بنت حلال، وتعني بأن يجد الشخص زوجة صالحة، وهي عبارة بسيطة تعبّر عن بساطة الآباء والأمهات في اختيار أبسط العبارات وأسرعها».

The phrase “Kabeer Kabar Mu’id” is often heard by the celebrants in Jazan and is considered one of the most prominent expressions of congratulations during the holiday in the region. It is a cultural heritage and an icon of the holiday that is repeated by the elderly in their greetings.

The phrase “Kabeer Kabar Mu’id” is associated with Eid al-Fitr, and some people do not understand its meaning despite its presence among the elderly in their wishes for their children to have long lives – as described by Uncle Abdullah Awaji – who points out that the phrase carries a lot of emotion and hope that its recipients will live a long life, just like the holiday.

Mohammed Mashlawi says that many young people do not know the meaning of the phrase, and it may pass by them unnoticed. It is the icon of congratulations in Jazan; we grew up hearing it from our fathers and mothers who wish us long lives, hoping that the celebrants will live as long as the holidays. It carries many wishes and hopes… “Yes, we grew up hearing it from our elders, and we did not understand its meaning until years later. It is often accompanied by the phrase ‘Bint Halal,’ which means that a person finds a righteous wife. It is a simple phrase that reflects the simplicity of parents in choosing the simplest and quickest expressions.”
