ثمّن وزير الثقافة الأمير بدر بن عبدالله بن فرحان موافقة مجلس الوزراء على تأسيس المعهد الملكي للأنثروبولوجيا والدراسات الثقافية.

ورفع وزير الثقافة أسمى آيات الشكر والعرفان إلى خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، وإلى ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، على دعمهما الدائم وغير المحدود للقطاع الثقافي والمثقفين.

وقال وزير الثقافة: «إن المعهد الملكي للأنثروبولوجيا والدراسات الثقافية يسعى ليكون راوياً موثوقاً لثقافتنا، ومنارة إلهام في دراسات فهم الإنسان».

وأضاف: «إن تأسيس المعهد خطوة مهمة في رحلة تطوير القطاع الثقافي، باعتباره منصة علمية سعودية توثق تراثنا وتعمق الوعي بثقافتنا من خلال الأبحاث الأنثروبولوجية والدراسات الثقافية، وتشجع التبادل الثقافي لإثراء المجال عالمياً، كما أنها تقدم رؤى ثقافية مؤثرة وفاعلة».

وسيعمل المعهد الملكي للأنثروبولوجيا والدراسات الثقافية على تطوير بحوث أكاديمية وتطبيقية متخصصة في الأنثروبولوجيا والدراسات الثقافية، بما يشمل دراسة المجتمعات المحلية، وأنماط العيش، والنظم الرمزية، والتحولات الاجتماعية، وأشكال التعبير الثقافي في المملكة العربية السعودية، كما سيعنى المعهد بتوثيق التراث الثقافي المادي وغير المادي في سياقاته الاجتماعية والتاريخية، ورصد ما يتصل به من معارف وممارسات وتمثلات وقيم، بما يضمن تقديم فهم علمي متكامل للعناصر الثقافية بوصفها جزءاً من الخبرة الإنسانية الحيّة.

وتكتسب المملكة العربية السعودية أهمية خاصة في حقل الدراسات الأنثروبولوجية والثقافية؛ نظراً لما تختزنه من عمق تاريخي وحضاري ممتد منذ قرون حتى اليوم، كما تتميز بتنوع ثقافي واجتماعي ومناطقي واسع، يتجلى في أنماط الحياة، والعادات والتقاليد، واللغة والتعبير الشفهي، فضلاً عن تجلياته في الآداب، والفنون الأدائية، والعمارة، والفنون البصرية، وفنون الطهي، والأزياء، وغيرها من الممارسات والتمثلات الثقافية التي تشكل مادة غنية للدراسة والتحليل والتوثيق.

The Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, praised the Cabinet’s approval to establish the Royal Institute for Anthropology and Cultural Studies.

The Minister of Culture expressed his highest gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, for their continuous and unlimited support for the cultural sector and intellectuals.

The Minister of Culture stated: “The Royal Institute for Anthropology and Cultural Studies aims to be a reliable narrator of our culture and a beacon of inspiration in the studies of understanding humanity.”

He added: “The establishment of the institute is an important step in the journey of developing the cultural sector, as it serves as a Saudi scientific platform that documents our heritage and deepens awareness of our culture through anthropological research and cultural studies, encourages cultural exchange to enrich the field globally, and provides impactful and effective cultural insights.”

The Royal Institute for Anthropology and Cultural Studies will work on developing specialized academic and applied research in anthropology and cultural studies, including the study of local communities, ways of life, symbolic systems, social transformations, and forms of cultural expression in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The institute will also focus on documenting both tangible and intangible cultural heritage within its social and historical contexts, and monitoring related knowledge, practices, representations, and values, ensuring a comprehensive scientific understanding of cultural elements as part of the living human experience.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia holds special significance in the field of anthropological and cultural studies due to its rich historical and civilizational depth that has extended for centuries up to today. It is also characterized by a wide cultural, social, and regional diversity, which is reflected in lifestyles, customs and traditions, language and oral expression, as well as in literature, performing arts, architecture, visual arts, culinary arts, fashion, and other cultural practices and representations that provide a rich material for study, analysis, and documentation.
