في لفتة وفاء للتاريخ، وتقدير لرمز ظل خفاقاً في ذاكرة الوطن، صدر الأمر الملكي الكريم من خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، بأن يكون الحادي عشر من مارس من كل عام يوماً للعلم السعودي، بمثابة محطة وطنية عظيمة نستلهم منها معاني الوحدة والعزة والكرامة، لراية خفاقة شهدت على أمجاد الماضي وترافق تطورات الحاضر، وترسم ملامح المستقبل المشرق.

في كل 11 مارس، يتجدد العهد مع راية التوحيد، ويتأكد الارتباط الوثيق بين الشعب وقادته تحت ظل هذا العلم الذي يبقى شامخاً لا يُنكّس، ولا يخفت ضياؤه، يتجدد العهد بأن نظل أوفياء لهذا الرمز، حافظين لقدسيته، مدافعين عن كرامته، عاملين على رفعته في كل مكان.

إنه يوم نستذكر فيه أن هذه الأرض الطيبة كانت وما زالت منارة للتوحيد، وأن علمها سيبقى خفاقاً ما تعاقب الليل والنهار ويحق لنا أن نفخر بهذا العلم، ويطيب لنا أن نحتفي به في يوم مخصص له، عرفاناً بما يمثله من قيم ومبادئ، وتقديراً لما يعنيه في نفوسنا من عزة وانتماء.

علم تتوسطه شهادة التوحيد، لتعلن للعالم رسالة السلام والإسلام التي قامت عليها هذه البلاد المباركة، فيما يرمز السيف إلى القوة والأنفة، وإلى حكمة القيادة وعلو المكانة، وبين الشهادة والسيف، تمتد حكاية وطن جمع بين الإيمان والعزم، وبين الرسالة والهيبة.

وحين يقترب يوم العلم السعودي، تتبدّل ملامح المدن، وكأن الوطن كله يتهيأ لاحتفاء خاص برايته، تتزين المباني الحكومية والخاصة والعامة بالعلم السعودي، فتغدو الواجهات مكسوّة بالخضرة والضياء، تمتد الرايات على الطرقات والشوارع الرئيسية، ترفرف في الساحات والميادين، وتتوشح بها المنازل والمركبات، في مشهدٍ يهمس بأن هذا الوطن يسكن قلوب أبنائه، وفي فضاءات العلم والمعرفة، تنبض المدارس والجامعات بحكايات الراية حيث تقام الندوات وورش العمل التي تعرّف الأجيال الصاعدة بتاريخ العلم ودلالاته، فيتعرّف الطلاب إلى رمزيته ومعانيه العميقة التي تجمع بين التوحيد والوحدة، يسمعون قصص الأجداد الذين حملوا الراية في مسيرة التوحيد، ويكتشفون كيف كانت الخضرة المرفرفة في السماء مصدر إلهام للأبطال وصنّاع المجد كهوية تتجذر في النفوس، وقيمة تورث جيلاً بعد جيل.

من الرياض إلى جدة ومن الدمام إلى المدينة المنورة ومكة المكرمة وكل مناطق بلادنا المباركة تتوشح الشوارع والساحات براية الوطن، فترتفع الأعلام فوق المباني الحكومية والميادين العامة، وتنساب الرايات الخضراء على الطرقات وكأنها نهر من الفخر يجري في قلب البلاد.

وفي المدارس والجامعات والمراكز الثقافية، تنبض الفعاليات التعليمية والثقافية بالحياة؛ ندوات تحكي قصة العلم، وورش عمل تعرّف الأجيال بدلالاته، ومعارض فنية تستلهم رمزيته في لوحات وإبداعات تعكس حب الوطن. تتردد في القاعات كلمات الشعر، وتُروى حكايات التاريخ التي سارت تحت ظل هذه الراية منذ تأسيس الدولة حتى يومنا هذا.

أما معالم المدن، فتتلألأ مساء باللون الأخضر، فتغدو الأبراج والجسور والواجهات مضاءة بلون العلم، في مشهدٍ بصري يفيض جمالاً ويعكس روح الوحدة الوطنية، وفي الساحات العامة، تقام عروض فنية وثقافية، وأمسيات شعرية وموسيقية وطنية، يشارك فيها الفنانون والمبدعون، ليجسدوا مشاعر الاعتزاز بهذه الراية التي تجمع القلوب.

وبهذه المناسبة الغالية أتقدم بأسمى آيات التهاني والتبريكات إلى مقام خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، وإلى ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، وإلى الشعب السعودي الكريم، سائلين الله أن يديم على وطننا نعمة الأمن والعزة والازدهار، وأن يبقى علم المملكة العربية السعودية خفاقاً عالياً، في ظل قيادة حكيمة ومسيرة تنموية طموحة نحو مستقبل أكثر إشراقاً.

In a gesture of loyalty to history and appreciation for a symbol that has remained vibrant in the nation’s memory, a royal decree was issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, declaring that the eleventh of March each year will be a day for the Saudi flag. This serves as a great national station from which we draw meanings of unity, pride, and dignity for a flag that has witnessed the glories of the past, accompanies the developments of the present, and outlines the features of a bright future.

Every March 11, we renew our pledge to the banner of unification, reaffirming the close bond between the people and their leaders under the shadow of this flag that remains tall and unfurled, its light never dimming. We renew our commitment to remain loyal to this symbol, preserving its sanctity, defending its dignity, and working to elevate it everywhere.

This is a day to remember that this blessed land has been and continues to be a beacon of unification, and that its flag will remain flying as long as night and day alternate. We have the right to take pride in this flag, and it is pleasing for us to celebrate it on a day dedicated to it, in recognition of the values and principles it represents, and in appreciation of what it means to us in terms of pride and belonging.

The flag, with the testimony of unification at its center, announces to the world the message of peace and Islam upon which this blessed country was founded, while the sword symbolizes strength and honor, as well as the wisdom of leadership and high status. Between the testimony and the sword extends the story of a homeland that combines faith and determination, between the message and dignity.

As the Saudi Flag Day approaches, the features of the cities change, as if the entire nation is preparing for a special celebration of its flag. Government, private, and public buildings are adorned with the Saudi flag, transforming facades into a tapestry of green and light. Flags stretch across roads and main streets, fluttering in squares and fields, and homes and vehicles are draped in them, in a scene that whispers that this nation resides in the hearts of its children. In the realms of knowledge and education, schools and universities pulse with stories of the flag, hosting seminars and workshops that introduce the rising generations to the history and significance of the flag. Students learn about its symbolism and deep meanings that unite unification and unity, hear stories of ancestors who carried the banner in the unification journey, and discover how the fluttering green in the sky inspired heroes and creators of glory as an identity rooted in souls, a value passed down from generation to generation.

From Riyadh to Jeddah, from Dammam to Medina and Mecca, and throughout all regions of our blessed country, the streets and squares are adorned with the flag of the nation. Flags rise above government buildings and public squares, and green banners flow along the roads as if they are a river of pride running through the heart of the country.

In schools, universities, and cultural centers, educational and cultural activities pulse with life; seminars tell the story of the flag, workshops introduce generations to its significance, and art exhibitions draw inspiration from its symbolism in paintings and creations that reflect love for the homeland. Words of poetry resonate in the halls, and tales of history are recounted that have unfolded under the shadow of this flag since the founding of the state to this day.

As for the landmarks of the cities, they sparkle in the evening with the color green, as towers, bridges, and facades are illuminated in the color of the flag, creating a visual scene overflowing with beauty that reflects the spirit of national unity. In public squares, artistic and cultural performances, as well as national poetry and music evenings, are held, featuring artists and creators who embody feelings of pride in this flag that unites hearts.

On this precious occasion, I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and to the generous Saudi people, asking God to continue bestowing upon our homeland the blessings of security, pride, and prosperity, and to keep the flag of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia flying high, under wise leadership and an ambitious developmental journey towards a brighter future.
