يبرز مبنى المصاطب في التوسعة السعودية الثالثة بالمسجد الحرام، كأحد أهم المشاريع الهندسية والخدمية التي تهدف إلى تعزيز راحة ضيوف الرحمن وإدارة الحشود المليونية بكفاءة عالية. ويمتد المبنى على مساحة تتجاوز 730 ألف متر مربع بطاقة استيعابية تصل إلى 264 ألف مصلٍ، ما يجعله من أبرز مواقع الصلاة خلال مواسم الذروة.

ويقع المبنى في الجهتين الشمالية والغربية من ساحات الحرم، وقد صُمم على شكل مدرجات متعددة المستويات تتناغم مع طبوغرافية المنطقة، وتوفر إطلالات مباشرة على الكعبة المشرفة، مع ممرات وأنفاق تضمن انسيابية الحركة دون تقاطع مع مسارات المشاة.

ويعد المبنى العقل الخدمي للتوسعة الشمالية، إذ يضم شبكة تنقل ضخمة تشمل أكثر من 680 سلماً كهربائياً و64 مصعداً بعضها بطاقة تصل إلى 7,000 كجم، إضافة إلى نحو 5,700 دورة مياه وآلاف المواضئ ونقاط سقيا زمزم. كما زُوّد بأنظمة تكييف وإنارة ذكية تحافظ على راحة المصلين في مختلف الظروف.

ويرتبط مبنى المصاطب بالتوسعة الرئيسية عبر 16 جسراً علوياً تعمل على تفتيت الكتل البشرية وتوزيعها على مستويات متعددة، فيما تتيح أكثر من 8,000 كاميرا مراقبة وأنظمة صوتية رقمية متابعة دقيقة لحركة الحشود وتوجيهها بشكل لحظي.

وتتزين التوسعة بقباب ضخمة ثابتة ومتحركة تسمح بدخول الضوء الطبيعي أو توفير التهوية، إضافة إلى زخارف هندسية وفسيفساء تعكس روح العمارة الإسلامية بروح عصرية.

ويمثل مبنى المصاطب تجسيداً لرؤية المملكة 2030 في تطوير خدمات الحرمين الشريفين؛ بوصفه العمود الفقري للخدمات في الجهة الشمالية للحرم، جامعاً بين الوظيفة التعبدية والأمنية والخدمية في منظومة واحدة.

The platform building in the third Saudi expansion of the Grand Mosque stands out as one of the most important engineering and service projects aimed at enhancing the comfort of the guests of Allah and managing the millions of crowds with high efficiency. The building extends over an area of more than 730,000 square meters, with a capacity of up to 264,000 worshippers, making it one of the most prominent prayer sites during peak seasons.

The building is located on the northern and western sides of the mosque’s courtyards and is designed in the form of multi-level terraces that harmonize with the topography of the area, providing direct views of the Holy Kaaba, along with corridors and tunnels that ensure smooth movement without intersecting with pedestrian pathways.

The building serves as the service hub for the northern expansion, as it includes a massive transportation network featuring more than 680 escalators and 64 elevators, some with a capacity of up to 7,000 kg, in addition to approximately 5,700 restrooms, thousands of ablution facilities, and Zamzam water points. It is also equipped with smart air conditioning and lighting systems that maintain the comfort of worshippers under various conditions.

The platform building is connected to the main expansion via 16 overhead bridges that work to disperse the crowds and distribute them across multiple levels, while more than 8,000 surveillance cameras and digital sound systems provide precise monitoring of crowd movements and real-time guidance.

The expansion is adorned with massive fixed and movable domes that allow natural light to enter or provide ventilation, in addition to geometric decorations and mosaics that reflect the spirit of Islamic architecture with a modern touch.

The platform building represents the embodiment of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in developing the services of the Two Holy Mosques; it serves as the backbone of services on the northern side of the mosque, combining worship, security, and service functions into one integrated system.
