أخبار لايت: المساس بالمنطقة المغمورة انتهاك وخرق لقرار مجلس الأمن – أخبار السعودية

أصدرت وزارة الخارجية بياناً، أمس، أوضحت فيه أنها تراقب باهتمام وقلق بالغين قوائم الإحداثيات والخارطة المودعة من قبل جمهورية العراق الشقيقة لدى الأمم المتحدة، وما تضمنته من تعديات لتشمل تلك الإحداثيات والخارطة أجزاء كبيرة من المنطقة المغمورة المقسومة المحاذية للمنطقة المقسومة السعودية-الكويتية، التي تشترك المملكة مع دولة الكويت في ملكية الثروات الطبيعية في تلك المنطقة وفقاً للاتفاقيات المبرمة والنافذة بينهما، والتي تستند على أحكام اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لقانون البحار عام 1982م، كما تنتهك هذه الإحداثيات سيادة دولة الكويت الشقيقة على مناطقها البحرية ومرتفعاتها المائية مثل «فشت القيد» و«فشت العيج».

وقالت في بيانها: إن المملكة تجدد التأكيد على رفضها رفضاً قاطعاً لأي ادعاءات بوجود حقوق لأي طرف آخر في المنطقة المغمورة المقسومة بحدودها المعينة بين المملكة العربية السعودية ودولة الكويت، كما تؤكد أهمية التزام جمهورية العراق باحترام سيادة دولة الكويت ووحدة أراضيها واحترام التعهدات والاتفاقيات الثنائية والدولية وكافة قرارات الأمم المتحدة ذات الصلة، خصوصاً قرار مجلس الأمن رقم 833 (1993م) الذي تم بموجبه رسم الحدود البرية والبحرية بين دولة الكويت وجمهورية العراق.

ودعت وزارة الخارجية إلى تغليب لغة العقل والحكمة والحوار لحل الخلافات، والتعامل الجاد والمسؤول وفقاً لقواعد ومبادئ القانون الدولي وحسن الجوار.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement yesterday, clarifying that it is monitoring with great interest and concern the coordinates and map submitted by the sister Republic of Iraq to the United Nations, which include violations that encompass large parts of the divided submerged area adjacent to the Saudi-Kuwaiti divided area, in which the Kingdom shares ownership of natural resources with the State of Kuwait according to the agreements in force between them, based on the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982. These coordinates also violate the sovereignty of the sister State of Kuwait over its maritime areas and water elevations such as “Fisht al-Qaid” and “Fisht al-Aij.”

In its statement, it reiterated the Kingdom’s firm rejection of any claims of rights by any other party in the divided submerged area defined by the borders between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait. It also emphasizes the importance of the Republic of Iraq’s commitment to respecting the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait, its territorial integrity, and honoring bilateral and international commitments and all relevant United Nations resolutions, particularly Security Council Resolution No. 833 (1993), which delineated the land and maritime borders between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Iraq.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for prioritizing reason, wisdom, and dialogue to resolve disputes, and for serious and responsible engagement in accordance with the rules and principles of international law and good neighborliness.
