قُبيل لقاء يجمعه بالرئيس الأمريكي في واشنطن، وقع رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو اليوم (الأربعاء)، على وثيقة الانضمام لمجلس السلام في غزة.

وذكر مكتب رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي، أن بنيامين نتنياهو وقع على الانضمام إلى مجلس السلام، وذلك خلال لقائه بوزير الخارجية الأمريكي مارك روبيو في واشنطن.

وأعلن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، منتصف يناير، بدء المرحلة الثانية من اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار في قطاع غزة، وتشكيل مجلس السلام في القطاع، موضحاً أنه سيتم الكشف عن أسماء أعضائه قريباً.

وعارض ترمب أمس الخطوات الإسرائيلية الرامية إلى ضم أجزاء من الضفة الغربية المحتلة، موضحاً أن هناك ما يكفي من القضايا التي يجب التفكير فيها الآن، ولا يجب الانشغال بالضفة الغربية.

ويستقبل الرئيس دونالد ترمب في وقت لاحق اليوم، رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي الذي يسعى لإقناعه بممارسة أقصى ضغط على إيران.

وهذا اللقاء هو السابع منذ عودة ترمب إلى البيت الأبيض، وعُقد آخر لقاء بينهما في القدس في أكتوبر الماضي.

ويأتي اللقاء بعد أيام من مفاوضات جرت بين إيران والولايات المتحدة في سلطنة عُمان.

Just before a meeting with the American president in Washington, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed today (Wednesday) the document for joining the Peace Council in Gaza.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s office stated that Benjamin Netanyahu signed the accession to the Peace Council during his meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio in Washington.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced in mid-January the start of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the formation of the Peace Council in the region, clarifying that the names of its members will be revealed soon.

Trump opposed yesterday the Israeli steps aimed at annexing parts of the occupied West Bank, stating that there are enough issues to consider now and that the focus should not be on the West Bank.

President Donald Trump will later today host the Israeli Prime Minister, who is seeking to persuade him to exert maximum pressure on Iran.

This meeting is the seventh since Trump returned to the White House, with their last meeting held in Jerusalem last October.

The meeting comes days after negotiations took place between Iran and the United States in the Sultanate of Oman.
